jTWG's shouldn't be taking too many vets. Anyone who has played more than 10 normal TWG games on FFR is considered a vet. So jteh and r aren't veterans. Charles technically isn't a vet either but over 200 games on another site is tough to ignore.

It's only over 100!!!

But anyway, this was something I wanted to address last game, but asked about too late. So I should probably ask now before I forget!!!

sunfan, I think you might be familiar with the concept, but on MafiaScum, they play their jTWGs (or Newbie Games over there) by having a veteran as an assigned teacher (the IC, or "Inexperience Challenged" Player) and 2-3 other veterans assigned as normal Players (the SE's, or "Semi Experienced" Players). The rest of the slots are filled by the new Players. They also always play matrix6, but I don't think that's too important.

The idea is that the IC will put in an extra effort into giving advice and recommendations to Players, even if it might detract a bit from the ulterior motives of the IC's game Role. On the other hand, the SE's play as normal in order to create a replica of the average TWG environment for the new Players to throw themselves into.

I think it's a good model and would recommend we try to institute something similar for jTWGs here. So long as the IC does a good job and the new Players are active, I think they'll learn a lot.


I want some input on this though. Might be worth making another topic about it, but I don't know if it's that important to do so.

i think we did that a few times in the past. i remember having a game with james may as my mentor and also a game with cedo. and then there was that battle hydras which kinda worked as a coaching game in a way.

That's kind of what I'm hoping will happen here.
The first jTWG we had when it was revived had YoshL as a vet. And hile he was alright as an IC, he's better suited for SE (no offense, Chris).
I figure you and Funny could also fill those roles, and then all 3 of you could chime in with advice now and then as well.
