I'm sure people are capable of making great simfiles, but that's certainly not the case with packs such as yolodumps, yolomania, cringefest, nb5, etc. There's almost no thought put into to files nowadays.

Sure, these don't showcase any fantastic stepping potential (although you should actually check out some of the less straightforward-jumpstreamy files in NB5 if you haven't). I see where you're coming from with these being the active packs of now.

To be fair two of those you quoted aren't even supposed to show any sort of high quality, and the second is actually getting better over time.

You pour hours into your simfiles, and when was the last time someone posted a score on, or even mentioned T&J? Last 100 Seconds? Either no one cares about interesting files enough to post scores on them, or they don't want to mention playing them because the current stepmania mindset is "nothing but icyworld js packs 24/7"

Quite a few posted scores on T&J, @ the least100sec it's like a sixth restep of that I made more for personal amusement and is only in the bunch of files you probably don't have pack -- I don't really mind it being forgotten.

To be frank, Matt (Fission) and I tried to run a pack with really high QC, and we actually did get a lot of submissions, and even have a sizable listed of accepted files, some with graphics. Matt lost all of his free time though, and what free time I had I devoted to FFR judging/stepping. We still have a bunch of files, and were mainly waiting for NB hype to die down so it would be a good time to request graphics and discuss release, but NB5 was delayed to no end, and graphics were continually being made for it, so there never arose an opportune time. Although, now is actually not so bad and I'll try talking to him about it again.

all of my charts are going to have two difficulties with the same charts for both, but one of them will use xml/lua/coursing-embedded stuff because honestly, I'm bored with regular simfiling and you guys should be too.

someone has to pioneer change; I think me and YoshL could start with our knowledge in this regard :3

We don't need to call this RFpack 2. Something original would be better, like what plopadop suggested (Imperishable Community Pack).

people don't play stepmania to enjoy a file, they play stepmania to get scores
and then they post said scores and no one comments on them because everybody else is too busy posting scores

take a look at sm scores right now, for the last however long you'll find the following:
5+ people post scores
one person comes in and says "wow everyone's getting good"
that person posts scores
rinse and repeat

you'd get more submissions if you started a dump chancellor's pack

preserving the name isn't going to get you submissions -- having an extra and forced medium of communication for submissions is going to cause the pack to fall flat very quickly because people don't want to check between this post and the other website; keeping it here makes things harder for you... but easier for everyone else, and people will keep submitting.

when kommi started up xoon 6, bluexoon as a community was dead. I mean, the domain and forums still exist on stian's webhost, but no one has posted on it since early-mid 2013 pretty much. doesn't matter in the end since xoon 6 died and I ended up collecting whatever files and releasing them in bunch of files 3.

I don't think it's entirely necessary to revive red fraction as a website (yet again) and having it die off exactly like the last few times tbh.
