Rhythm Gaming/ASD Correlation?
Note: Since OWA didn't actually include any edit to this post when he split off the thread, and made me look like a jerk who just posted "Hey, so I bet everyone who plays FFR is autistic" please note that this thread was split off the thread about a mother of an autistic child receiving an angry letter, and in that thread a bunch of people mentioned that they had various kinds of ASD which caused me to wonder about a correlation.
I wonder if there's a significant correlation between Rhythm game players and ASDs If there is, I'll feel even worse, because I'm so godawful at FFR Last edited by devonin; 08-20-2013 at 03:55 PM.. |

Re: Tell me your life story.
I actually think the correlation between rhythm game players and ASDs would be lower than what you'd find on other forums, because there is a real-life social component (arcades)
the correlation between this and ASD that you're probably seeing is between internet forums and ASDs. internet forums in general seem appealing to people with that way of thinking. also, side note but there is an ENORMOUS correlation between internet forum posters and INTJs. which is to say, if you give an MBTI to any given internet forum, unless it's something really specific that would cause more ENTPs (hi) or INTPs to show up it will probably be something like 50% INTJ and 50% everything else I would suspect there is a correlation between people in the INTJ category (or, if you hate mbti, traits that mirrror this) and people with ASDs so that's very possibly what you're seeing |

Re: Tell me your life story.
I would say that INTPs are more frequent than INTJs in forums like this I believe, but people in the INTJ/INTP categories (I'm INTJ myself) certainly make up the majority of people in the forums

Re: Tell me your life story.
I'm an outlier here on the autism thing
http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/9.12/aqtest.html higher is more autistic. an AQ score for likely autism is 32+, the average person's is 16.5, mine is ... 10. if anyone has a similar score to mine, let me know; I'd like to see how this manifests in forum personalities |

I'm sure the score is also influenced on personal upbringing, i.e someone who grew up without having a lot of social interaction from homeschooling or something. |

Re: Rhythm Gaming/ASD Correlation?
Sectioned this discussion off to a new thread. Would've moved to CT but I imagine several people here are just going to post their test score and leave without adding much/anything to the discussion. If that's not the case though, I'll move it to that subforum.

@moches
I thought you'd have the least autism-leaning score here |
