ODIPack3 submissions (Release when graphics are done)
Re: ODIPack3 submissions (Release when graphics are done)
if nothing else, this is historically one of the most diverse crowds we've had for one pack. I sincerely hope that the veterans who came out of the woodwork for this stick around and we see more collaboration and progress in the future.
Ok brb re installing 3.95 because SM5 TIMING IS FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE

Hey Chris, remember how many of your files and their revisions I rejected from the SMGpacks back in 06/07? And now LOOK AT YOU, YOU'RE ALL GROWN UP AND YOUR MUSIC IS IN STEPMANIA 5 AND SHIT.

clash 11
accepted. it's awesome swing =), it has a nice progression and decent variation
far east nightbird
SPECTACULAR thank god you had time to get another submission in moches because wow this was soooo much fun and just great. just a few notes for minor improvements, but you can do as you like it's good enough anyway
measure 7.5-8.5 this sounds like 3 notes at a time to me, not 2
measure 11-18 there are a few cool percussion things left out here, but it's fine
measure 15 don't really like the mines, i think they should be easier at least since it's very easy to mess up and the rest of the file is not that hard to AAA. i think the single mine on the right might be the one that messes you up here and perhaps make the next ones easier too.
measure 19 i think it would be better flowing if the mines were even easier once again
measure 21 the two previous notes about the mines are not that important, but here i think it's really much too hard, imo the mines should be made a lot easier here
measure 41 there is a cool subtle drum snare left out after the second 4th that you could add if you want to
measure 42 sounds like the second green jump should be earlier, sounds like a bit of a gallop, if you want them to be to the percussion like it seems. you have a few different options here: just place the jump earlier and keep it green (somewhere before the 4th). or since the melody is just playing regular 16ths, have single 16ths and green singles to the percussion, or have single 16ths and just a non-green gallop into the 4th which becomes a jump, this would be the most technically correct solution but it would take away your cool green color note trick so i would recommend just going with the first option of placing the green jump earlier to keep the trick as you intended it.
damn this file is really beautiful dude
Zen
not too bad but it has a few major issues, the biggest one is the 32nds. they come in way too uncomfortable patterns, it's a big difficulty spike and it's not in a fun way, you must rearrange them so it's much easier. at the same time they also come in much too similar patterns, it's just drumrolls so you can mix up the patterns in any way you would like, have as much variation as possible while maintaining them comfortable to hit. the 16ths streams were pretty good but can also have a bit more varied patterns if you want to but it was fine. all the 24ths were great. the bridge-part is a big issue, it's empty and repetetive and can't be that way, you should add arrows and freezes to his vocals or the synth or something like that, it can't just be like it is right now anyway, it could also be cut shorter perhaps if it's still empty and repetetive with something more added. also, you should cut off the beginning that doesn't have arrows and fade it in, and cut off the end so that it becomes a short version which it should be, to have it display as a long version is bad and makes much less people play the file. this could be accepted after revision
really hurry up with the revisions guys the pack is really coming to a close now!!

Re: ODIPack3 submissions (Release when graphics are done)
the really funny thing about Far East Nightbird is that I spent two weeks prior to today trying to finish a bunch of old WIPs and starting a bunch of new ones that went nowhere...and then I just remembered this song and ended up stepping it in a day. I'm really happy that you liked it so much

Far East Nightbird (revision)
accepted, awesome
Zen (revision)
very good changes, but the file isn't that amazing anyway since it's a bit repetetive, but i guess it's good enough because it's short and challenging in a few different ways which is always fun and means replay-value. did some additional changes and sent a .sm back, hope mrbob likes it .
