I never said everyone wanted the file. But you don't know who would or wouldn't. And you do realize the ignorance of that statement, right? "It's not hard, go in D7". That's outrageous. And how are people suppose to get better without files that hard? It gives stamina, speed, and helps read new patterns. There is, as far as I'm concerned, NO legitimate reason to put such a restriction on ANY file.

Play other rhythm games, play the hard files that are public, play on Dossar's engine, etc.

It's also pretty absurd that you're trying to say that upper level players don't deserve things for their accomplishments.

If you join D7 you can never go back You'd also have to you know, actually play the whole tournament and such. Be pretty silly to forfeit a bunch of other prizes for one token that you're not even going to be able to do because it's 5 divisions above your level.

Because it's totally a walk in a park, and officials are always around the corner.

Twice a year isn't too shabby. Also not a single one of you hopped on and complained when I said that I'd be doing this to compromise for ripping these people out of D6, now all of a sudden you guys want to get mad about it.

I guess D7 players just deserve nothing at all because they've already won the other prizes for the tournament.

2. I am discussing. Hard to tell emotion via text, though I can guess that trying to hide your own text shows you may be getting upset, and that's not what I'm aiming for.

I want the site to be equal and fun for all skill levels. And it never feels that way. hard songs are added constantly, while very few songs under 10 are ever added. (and yes, I know during a tourney is different) This just feels like another step toward alienating lesser skilled players like myself, as well as any new player. And I'll be honest, I didn't know it was a token initially. If I had, we would have had this discussion much earlier.

Because people don't step them, that's not staff's fault. We've asked for more easy files but people step to their tastes and generally around their skill level. I had to run around asking for easy files just to be able to do the tourney and I had 3 batches to go through. If you want more easy stuff try your hand at stepping. It's not too bad stepping an easier difficulty file if you're newer, just get some pointers from someone.

Also this token has nothing to do with alienating lesser skilled players, I already explained previously (which you seemingly ignored) that it was a compromise for lower skilled players in D6 to actually have an opportunity at winning prizes in their division. It's one file. If I stuck the D7 people together what would they have been fighting for? Most of them have all the tokens that are given out to lower divisions.

I don't even really know where you get that there's so many exclusives at this point. All the event tokens are given out at various events, vROFL has several ways of obtaining it now, I mean comon, what does that leave? Scarhand, Oni? For ones that are up there a good deal anyway. Yes there's some tricky skill tokens, it's supposed to make the game more interesting and give people challenges.

P.S. I said that this token had nothing to do with elitism, not that it doesn't exist at all around here. I don't see how me trying to compromise for lower players while still giving D7 something to achieve constitutes being elitist.

One thing that I would like to add in pertinence to exclusivity is that very few tokens are "exclusive" to particular groups. Support tokens can be obtained through hard work, but they certainly aren't management, and skill tokens do exactly as they are supposed to -- reward based on skill. Tokens like Scarhand, Otaku [Oni] and Otaku [Heavy] are put in as milestones for skill purposes, and should not be treated as "exclusive", as anyone can get it if they put forth the necessary effort to retrieve them. Anyone who has those tokens started from somewhere in terms of difficulty and had to build to them from nothing/very little foundation, because FFR doesn't necessarily carry over easily from other rhythm games.

As far as the situation with Unconnected., one could compare the insertion of the token to the extras of a really long video game -- yeah, I could play Final Fantasy X and complete the story mode (D5), but... I could unlock all of the Celestial weapons in the process (D6)... but after that, I'll need to go to the monster arena and get my face smashed in by the custom creations because the regular in-game battles are boring as shit and I need to be rewarded some other way (D7).

Think of a game's story mode. Now, think of completing it on a higher difficulty. Finally, think about completing the game on a higher difficulty while proceeding to unlock every piece of content there is. D7 players need something new because they have everything already and can do most conventional challenges with the snap of a finger.

I had also assumed the song would be playable by all for this week before being removed + converted into a token. I won't complain too much though, despite my compulsion to unlock every song on the site :P

It just seems a bit out of place, since it's not a skill unlock and it's not even really a prize. It's more of a participation award, which feels a bit exclusive. At the worst I'd say it seems slightly unfair to those around the same skill level who happened to not participate in the tourny.

heh, thats kinda the way i imagine it. good analogy, except at this point in time id probably be using Metal Gear Rising : Revengeance instead, only because I'm going for an all S run on hard right now, and its proving to be one of the hardest gaming feats i've done.

I love the final fantasy X reference because that's exactly what i did, without counting maximizing all blitzball players (giving everyone all ability slots), giving max attributes to all aeons and unlocking all kind of turbo overdrives for everyone.

also, if anyone is D7 worthy and hasn't joined this tournament, and they really want this token, they can surely join the next one later. What's the big deal?

It is exclusive. I said it several times -_- Not just in the beginning of the tournament either but even throughout it we discussed exclusive prizes for D7.
