This way, we can talk about something we were really late getting into and people can't be like "OLD NEWS". I mean, I guess they can, but we're just talking about stuff we've bought most recently.
In my case, I picked up Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War GOTY. $30 for the original game + the expansion Winter Assault. It's seriously a wickedly good RTS, one of the best ones I've played in a long time. It actually requires a bit of strategy rather than whoever has the fastest zerg. Rushing is still a tactic, of course, but it's rather difficult to do and be successful (especially if you're going up against orks because all their buildings have guns on them, and I mean every damn one of them). Micromanagement is relatively easy compared to Warcraft 3 and Starcraft, although only because it's easier to select individual units to use their attacks than it is in Starcraft, because there is quite a bit that you have to do with each squad (namely, reinforcements + equipping bigger guns). A second expansion just came out, so I'll have to go look into that. It's also in the Warhammer universe, so props to that. Also, I finally got a copy of Disgaea 2. The local Wal-Mart is the only place to shop for games around here and it took them like a month to finally get some in stock. I'm enjoying it thoroughly. |
