Everything you see is past events. Light takes time to reach you, so by the time it has, whatever caused the light to reach you has already moved somewhere else.

If you want to think about it that way =/ As a mathematician, it makes more sense for me to define radians without units, since functions like sine are best defined as functions on dimensionless quantities (so they can be written as nice power series without any qualms, and since sine itself is dimensionless).
