i havn't decided on the what difficulty rating system to use yet. a couple of problems with the nps system is that the files with low nps and therefore very few feet seem supereasy to the player and tends to be completly avoided.
files can also be structured in many different ways to make them challenging and it's pretty common that just the number of nps isn't always a good measuring stick for difficulty rating, and that's where what you call the fudgefactor comes in. imo this would likely have to be applied to adjust almost every single file's difficulty rating, and that makes me feel like the whole point of the system is lost. another thing is machine score looks gay and is pretty much too inconvenient to care about at all with the nps-rating system, but i think they might have changed how machine system works in sm5 or smth like that anyway? machine score has always been terribly broken but still it remains as a standard for along with what grade you get and how your score looks, giving you an indication of how good your score was, it's of course most relevant for harder files. it's kind of like passer rating in american football lol but obviously you get a much finer classification system with the nps system since it goes from 1-15 which is cool but i think it can also work as a negative thing and make a lot of the files with lower nps become avoided i might end up making a thread with a poll on what system to use when we're nearing release. sick graphics necros! ok so onto the submission, a SICK batch of submissions this time wow. so many amazing files, you guys are really starting to figure out what kind of files i'm after by now. there's so much diversity in this pack now it's amazing cyberstorm accepted fallen world fun as fuck holy SHIT yes. all the rolls except for the last lone one should just be made freezes imo, i don't find them challenging in a fun way and they will ruin people's scores on what is otherwise a fantastic file for scoring insect digestion melancholy really fucking cool but mines ruin it =(. the steps are supercool and fit the song tremendously well. freezes are used very well and in good moderation and only make it more fun. all patterns are very good and it's fun as hell to play. BUT, when i got to the first mines i was like ok please tell me those are the only mines in the file... and they were not. the file loses all replay-value when it has that much mines to mess up your score with in so many differnt parts. this file is supercool i wanna accept it let's go too simple easy and repetetive. some parts are fun and it's keep you interested for a while but then it ends up being too much of the same similar rhythms over and over and the song/file never really mixes it up very much lost not forgotten really nice. there are so many different sections of this file and they all have a tremendous flow and keep a nice level of difficulty. really fucking fun but i think there were quite a few spots in the guitar solo where he played faster "bursts" than what you stepped. i also think there were some errors in some parts before the guitar solo where you didn't step all the guitar notes? will be accepted, you're on a roll nick! Mirage garden SPECTACULARTWYHEYJETHGJMG. WOW one of the best files in the pack holy shit it's so much fun. accepted as fuc My so-called life accepted oblivion accepted. still don't like all of the minijacks but it's fine it's a fun file with a good consistent level of difficulty for scoring. st. alphonzos ok it's really cool and unique i wanna include it. it's fun and challenging in a pretty unique way but it is too long. the last part after the second last silent-mines part should just be cut out. there's nothing special there and it's similar rhythms to those throughout the rest of the song, even though it's not necessarily badly stepped or too unintresting, it's a question of the file just becoming too long, the way it plays it would be much more enjoyable if this last part was completly taken out. street lethal guitar solo haha lol it's obviously pretty bs and you spent little to no time at all on this file. to get all this down accurately would require loooots of work and good ears, you have a long way to go with this one tranzport ok good job accepted, it's not all too spectacular but it's a solid file that is challenging and good for scoring, and it does have a few parts that stand out, and even though the rest is mostly 16ths at least the rhythms are mixed up a bit
