Default The FFR Holiday Song Event

Hey everyone! As you all know, the holidays are quickly closing in on us, and (albeit being a bit hectic) is quite a joyous occasion. A few of you may remember that several months back a quite entertaining contest was held by midnghtraver, where people tried their best to compile a rap about pizza. At the time I found it was extremely fun, and after a pitch to the FFR event staff (and a very generous offer to lay down a track by midnghtraver) we present to you:

The FFR Holiday Song Event

If you aren't quite sure what to do, it's actually a very simple concept. The goal is to take the track below, and try to add lyrics to make a fun song about FFR and the holidays!

https://soundcloud.com/nmilla/christmas-hip-hop2

I assure you that even if you never sung or wrote a rhyme before, that this will be quite fun to participate in. Swallow your pride, get into the holiday spirit, and send us some fun song tracks! It is the holidays after all, so even if you aren't the best song writer in the world, you'll still get a prize for sending in a legitimate submission.

Speaking of prizes...

If you send in a submission that follows the guidelines, you will automatically receive 20,000 credits when this event is over!

If you manage to pull in 3rd place, you will get an additional 30k to line your pockets with!

If you can carry yourself all the way to 2nd place, a choice of any one event or support tokens is in store! Also a cool 50k credits will be coming your way for being the lyrical mastermind that your are!

Of course, if you are the winner of this event, not only will you get a choice of two event or support tokens, but you will also get to see your song in game. Yes that's right, the winner of this competition will have their silly sing over stepped and put in game! Of course you'll also get an additional 75,000 credits, which will no doubt fund that time slot in that big name studio to get your name out there.

Now as fun as all of this sounds, there are a few rules that need to be followed if you wish to participate:

1) Although I will allow cutting of the track if necessary, there is to be no remixing of the song.* This competition is supposed to be fairly accessible to everyone, and people putting spins on this with FL studio or something doesn't really seem fair in the scheme of things. Just you, the song, and your mic. No more, no less.

2) When you submit, also please include your lyrics along with the song itself. Although songs are supposed to be audible, there are times when a word or phrase may get muffled, and having readily available lyrics makes the reviewing process much easier for judges. Considering you'll probably be making a lyrics sheet on your own accord anyway, this shouldn't be any issue.

3) I won't be too strict on this, but bear in mind that your song could potentially be in game, so don't go overboard with lyrical NSFW. A swear or two or an innuendo aren't the end of the world, just don't make it the focus of the song is all.

So if you can do all that, you are good to go! I would personally like to use SoundCloud or YouTube for submissions because we actually have embedding tags for those. Unless you really can't do either of those for some strange reason, try to send submissions to us that way so they can be placed in the thread later on.

I can't wait to see you all in the contest, and so you know:

Submission deadline: 12/20/12 at 11:59:59pm server time!

Once this passes, we'll keep you up to date on the judging process!

Have fun, and happy holidays!

* Rule 1: EXCEPTION
For the sake of this competition, a tempo change does not count as a remix, provided you adhere to the following posted message:

This exception was agreed upon by event staff due to a user query, if you want to see whether we will allow something, just shoot a question in the thread before starting. If you are recording and are not sure how to do this, pick up audacity. It's a great program for recording, and will allow you to do a lot of things that could help you in this event (ie: moving your voice to sync, layering your voice, changing tempo).
