Let's face it: it's a blunder in the scoring system which keeps FFR unique. Unfortunately, we feed off of this "bad planning" to ironically maintain FFR's "unique" image. That means combo-based scoring is here to stay.

To be honest, an issue as broad as that would have to have been fixed in the very early days of FFR. Now we rely on it as our "asset" to being different from other rhythm games.
