It IS pathetic but there's a reason ppl do it
like if you were to score an own goal in soccer at the world cup, expect yourself to be killed after losing the game. People have invested a lot of money into betting for their own team and if their own team doesn't win or if it's the fault of one of the players, then they'd get shot.
