All of my gay friends (I can think of 4) are just as bad as my straight friends. Within .1 seconds of seeing a guy they have already evaluated their sexual attractiveness and made some comment about it. A guy getting to know somebody really isn't going to change their level of sexual attraction to that person. If a girl is reasonably attractive then a guy would have no problem having sex with her almost regardless of her personality (although he may not want a relationship with her).

Women seem to approach things like this in a more reasonable fashion but I don't think guys are capable of it.
