Since you are all so curious, I'll tell you my story (even if you aren't). The jail I visited is recent, but closed down and is on a secluded island not too far off the shores of San Francisco. Alcatraz is its name. The deal was, if my group did community service there, we'd get a free tour and a night in the cells. So we did the community service, got a full tour of the HUGE jails. I mean, it was quite creepy. The cells were stacked on each other and the ones at the very top had no ladder down, they'd have to move them up and down by other means. Even if you escape, you'd be on an island with a quarter mile of freezing water to cross and a whole bunch of non-violent sharks to get through. The best part was, they had a library and everything for prisoners. We slept the night and sailed back home the next day! ~Tsugomaru |
