    if you read ishkur, make sure that later, when you think you're sophisticated, you insult him and call him an arbitrary hack who doesn't know anything about electronic music.

      Re: Techno?

      I also highly reccomend DI.FM. I listen to it all the time.

      Since you might want to keep some of the songs, I suggest you listen to DI.FM in Winamp, and download Streamripper. This will allow you to rip the audio from the streams, allowing you to save the songs on your computer. After each song, Streamripper chops it, and saves it, so your not dealing with one huge MP3 file. Sometimes I'll listen to the Hardcore channel, and leave it running overnight with Streamripper running. I'll wake up to 500MB of new techno.

      Streamripper, sr, stream, ripping, winamp, xmms, mp3

      It's good to see people wanting to get into techno. It's bad enough I'm the only one at my school who listens to it =\

        Why does everyone rip on Ishkur? I think his site is a wonderful guide. Sometimes its funny, sometimes it's not. I like it though.

          Re: Techno?

          Ishkur helped me in some areas, but in most others he was a total idiot.
          For instance; "Crunk" music has absolutely nothing to do with techno music.
          But Ishkur's guide will introduce you to some cool songs. Too bad you'll go through Hell trying to find some of them on any P2P programs.

            Braveheart Techno version.. duno who did it
            DJ Sammy - Heaven

            etc. if i had to call it anything.. it'd be like melodic trance or something.. i duno.

                Re: Techno?

                Here are some artists that I highly reccomend;
                DJ Micro
                Adam Freeland
                Baby Anne
                Paul Oakenfold
                Christopher Lawrence
                The Crystal Method (Busy Child is NOT their only song, guys)
                DJ Icey
                DJ Magic Mike (Being serious here)

                You really ought to figure out what genre you want to start out with, it will really help. And if you want specific songs that I reccomend, PM me, I don't want to clutter up the thread.

                  Re: Techno?

                  Be aware that using Streamripper results in craptastic sounding MP3s, because you're saving them from <128 kbps streams. Radio bitrates are fine on the radio, but they're a joke if you're actually collecting songs.

                  Anyway, this topic is gay, but I suppose I will impart the single most useful tool anyone looking to acquire electronic music can possess - Soulseek.

                  The premier P2P network for anything electronic, underground, or both. Highly recommended. My username on there is Moogy_ if any of you fools feel like browsing through my 18025 completely unsorted files (including random hentai and games). There's good stuff for the willing, though! Here's a hint: Downloads\Soulseek

                  EDIT: Also, 95% of people with DJ in their name suck severely. A lot of trance sucks too.

                      /disagree

                      I have a couple gigs worth of 96Kbps music, and it sounds fine. Let's let him decide if it sounds good.

                        ew 96 kbps. music should be AT LEAST 192 kbps and preferably all flac or otherwise lossless.

                                @Moogy
                                Most people that have DJ in their name take other people's music that don't have DJ in their name and popularize it. This is a good thing, seeing that it takes a big wave to stir the unpopular depths of techno.
