Re: Which stepchart, to you, is as close to perfect as it gets?
Here's my list of my favorite files in game. It's difficult to pick just one that stands out and I guess I don't know what the thread means by "perfect" but in my mind each one is perfect in different ways. But these are files I can play at any time and always enjoy.
System Doctor
Destiny v2
Distorted Reality
Piano X Forte
Sound of My Dream RMX
Waterfall
Heartsifter
Toki
Future Destination
Plasmatextor
SigSig
Momentary Life
Colibri
Magical Higan Tour 2009
Digital Intervention
Mozart on Crack
Blue Army
Ice Disk
Euphoria [Smiley]
WAIWAI230
I breathe the cosmos
Serenade
Pinkie's Castle
My Little Pony Medley
Nyanyanyanyanyanyanya!
Pink Fluffy Unicorns Dancing on Rainbows
NaiNai 69
Xanthystrauma
Louder!! Louder!!!! Louder!!!!!!
Still need to add more to this list but these stand out the most to me.
EDIT: played Plasmatextor again and that one might be the one for me if I had to choose. Just love how well the file flows with that song. But still just way too many good ones I can't choose just one. Kinda depends on what I'm in the mood for playing as well.
Re: Which stepchart, to you, is as close to perfect as it gets?
DissonantMuse's list quick commentary because I'm too lazy to actually just use the quoted post and bold all my responses ect.
System Doctor
Certainly not "amazing" by any actual degree. If I remember right this chart is just needlessly jumped into oblivion?
Destiny v2
First one wasn't much worse? I still see no need for this to even exist in game really. Like I think the copy on Thirdstyle is like textbook garbage but it's at least significantly different. (Granted this V2 plays better than the first one, it's not really notably different otherwise. It's like a patched version of the chart if anything.)
Distorted Reality
I don't even remember this chart, so no. Is this like a token or something?
Piano X Forte
Ok finally a good one. I'll give you this one as being good but not like "Master" level quite yet.
Sound of My Dream RMX
For an easy chart it's pretty good.
Waterfall
Don't remember it.
Heartsifter
See above
Toki
Once more
Future Destination
Renard (isn't this by D_C?)
Plasmatextor
Stepmania was better. One of the rare times I actually think this.
SigSig
What what?
Momentary Life
NO.
Colibri
It's alright, but not you know stand out "great."
Magical Higan Tour 2009
I have a few issues with this one that force me to say no. However, of your list so far, this is the best pick. The rolls are a bit of a killer for it. They're correct and I mean they suit it but just some of them just bother me. I'd need to actually dissect this to pinpoint things.
Digital Intervention
Don't remember it.
Mozart on Crack
Absolutely not.
Blue Army
It needed some extra love it never got.
Ice Disk
Euphoria [Smiley]
WAIWAI230
I breathe the cosmos
Serenade
Not memorable files.
Pinkie's Castle
My Little Pony Medley
I'll admit it, I actually like these files. They represent their songs really well. Even the easier version of Medley is really nicely done.
Nyanyanyanyanyanyanya!
I liked my 30 second copy better. Probably too biased for this one.
Pink Fluffy Unicorns Dancing on Rainbows
Absolutely not. Both copies of this song feel like they're slightly off sync, have some really rigid patterns that just bother the mighty crap out of me. Also, rainbows and the song itself piss me off. Stupid happy crap that taunts you as you play it.
NaiNai 69
Mixed feelings on the likes and dislikes. Gonna lean toward it's alright but not quite there.
Xanthystrauma
Xandertrax done right. Sick guilty pleasure. Yeah. (Note: Yes I like this chart. Surprise.)
Re: Which stepchart, to you, is as close to perfect as it gets?
Came into the thread expecting to see the usual suspects listed as the "best charts ever", being the jealous guy that I am when it comes to fame in the simfile-sphere... But someone mentioned Xanthystrauma, I'm flattered!

I honestly don't think there are enough charts from those artists in comparison with DJ Sharpnel to make that viable.
That's shocking. I know everyone likes to step any and every DJ Sharpnel song under the sun, but there's loooots from them too. Plus the fact they both have an infinite range of style compared to DJ Sharpnel, which a lot of is a bunch of jumpstream j-core tbh. I don't think I've heard DJ Sharpnel ever do some Jazz, or Rock, or Classical like Flashbulb and Oster have done plenty of.
I really like DJ Sharpnel, but a good bunch of songs I can't stand to play charts for. Can't really say the same for Flashblub or Oster.
