My roommate was looking at it on some stormtracker, and where it's gonna go, the winds blow northeast usually, so it might come towards me and die down before anything happens. I'm safe? YAY!
But ;_; for all you other people.

I was watching a video of what would happen if a Catagory 5 hurricane hit Galveston/Houston. The entire Galveston island will be underwater, the area stretching from Kemah, JCS (Johnson Space Center, Houston), Friendswood, Seabrook, League City, Sante Fe, and Baytown. Most or all of Houston (Harris county) and all of Galveston county will be underwater. To see the video, go to http://www.hcoem.org/videos.htm then scroll down to Category Five What could happen if 1996 storm (Hurricane Mitch) that struck Honduras struck Harris County. Also, covers Tropical Storm Allison. Then click on the appropriate link below to view the video. |

Yes, the Galveston that hit the Florida Keys (I think) in 1900 or whatever. By far the strongest hurricane recorded that hit the US.

Yes, but that was only a CATEGORY 4. It only did that much damage probably, because of poor structures for handling hurricanes back then. That and floods.
This hurricane is packing winds over 40 mph faster o_O I don't think a category 5 of this power has hit anything on the main land. Just islands. 250 mph winds wouldn't even be possible out of a hurricane. That would be like, a giant tornado XD

Och. ABC switched their coverage from the Little League World Series championship game to hurricane coverage.
The game was tied 6-6, going into extra innings. |

Man, it's amazing how hurricane-stupid some people are.
"The Galveston Hurricane had winds around 250 mph" [Remark about a funnel cloud being associated with a hurricane] And BritishBMX, North Texas is in no danger of Hurricane Katrina, or any hurricane for that matter. Hopefully Louisiana gets washed away because it sucks so hard, but Texas won't be hurt at all. Come on, people. And esupin, I was pissed when they cut away from the game. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

It's headed for New Orleans according to CNN and has dropped to category 4.

It already hit it. It's heading up north now.
It made it's 3rd and final landfall at 10am and isn't moving anywhere near Texas, but moving up along a longitudinal line. It should be going up to Mississippi and also hitting Tennessee.
