Dude, Kirby's Air Ride rocks. Kirby is awesome. If you don't like Kirby, fuck you.
Yeah, Metroid Prime and the Rogue Squadrons are excellent. GCN also has F-Zero GX and SSB:M and all sorts of stuff. |

Ok, well PS2 has Socom II, the best online tactical shooter out for consoles, Ratchet and Clank: GC and Jak II, far and beyond the best platformers out this year, GTAIII and VC which not only created a genre unto themselves, but spawned a buttload of clones and are great games besides, FFXI and FFX-2 which are self explanatory, MGS3:Snake Eater which is going to be incredible, and GT4 which is going to obliterate the racing genre (all racing games are still compared to GT3:A-spec, which came out 2 1/2 years ago). Oh, and all madden games are online exclusive for PS2. So PS2 dominates the FPS, Platforming, Action/Adventure, RPG, Stealth Action, Racing, and Sports Genres...what does the cube have again?

K GTA sucks. No denying that. It's more a hindrance to the respectibility of the PS2 than anything. "OMG LOL LET'S KILL STUFF FOR NO REASON WHAT A FUN GAME LOLOLOLOL". Please. It caters to the MTV generation.
Socom II sucks, most FPSes do. (I've never played one I've liked, except Metroid Prime, and that's really a FPA.) Ratchet and Clank and Jak II are fun, yes. MGS3 may be for the PS2, but Gamecube is getting the remake of MGS, so it's a moot point. Madden games are the worst ever. FFX and FFX-2 certainly aren't the best RPGs out right now, but yes, the PS2 wins in RPGs. I'm not trying to bring the PS2 down, I like it as much as the Gamecube. It's just that it's not the godly console you make it out to be. Gamecube and PS2 have good games. Gamecube and PS2 have crap games. They're both the same. No reason to argue. |

Metroid Prime beats PS2 in the FPS category. Cube has SSX3 which, though also on the PS2 and XBox is still the best. Pikmin is a great puzzle / platforming game. Rogue Squadron is the best flight game. Legend of Zelda is a great Action Adventure game.
edit: and GTA really does pwn, on the computer especially, but it is by far the best game I have seen since the classic games (pong, tetris, street fighter 2...) |

Metroid Prime...isn't an FPS. It's classified as an Action/Adventure, and it's true. It's simply an action adventure set in first person. But besides the shooting, no, it's really more of an Action game.
And how can you say SSX3 is better on the cube when it's the exact same game on all consoles? Oh, and I forgot to mention, PS2 also has VF4:EVO while not as good as SCII, is still an excellent fighting game and is edged out only slightly by SC. Quote:

I wasn't saying it was better on the Gamecube (SSX3) I was saying that it it is a really good game on the gamecube, when you said there were none.
Keep in mind, I have a gamecube, but would rather have an x-box (now that it has GTA). Like Moogy said, they all have their good and bad, but Gamecube isn't worthless. |

Aren't they trying to make some little handheld thing like a gameboy with PS2 graphics?

Not PS2, but PSX quality. It's called the PSP (Playstation Portable). The difference between the graphics is that on the smaller screen they look much more impressive, but it also has a new feature called Hardware Tessellation, which can turn blocky graphics into smoother models without any further polygon density or taking up a lot of processing power. It looks really cool. Now, whether the estimated $300 price tag at launch will appeal to the public remains to be seen, I think it'll last longer than some other dead handhelds like the Neo*Geo Pocket (partly because Sony has deep enough pockets to keep it running for awhile if it's destined to end up in the bargain bin).

My mom plans on getting me a Gameboy SP for my birthday.
I wonder what made her think of that?

I want that thing the japanese made for Sony or something, and its like a virtual person (no, not virtual boy), and shes cool and stuff. She has an evolving personality, too, which I think is pretty damn cool.
