A few patterns I can't grasp in the song. I get the same 3 goods every time in the same spot =/ |

Sittin' on 2Gs...
This is the most ragebait file I've ever played, and I've only played through it twice... I like it.

Re: FFR 6th Official Tourney Songs Discussion: Round 4
Why I hate the D4 file:
First of all, the song is awesome, so I'm going to be that much more sensitive to a bad file for it In the first section there is missed emphasis in the drums that should have led to a lot more jumps. The jump usage here seems really sporadic and inconsistent. There's a blatantly missed burst at 174 combo. Really bmah? The hand usage is inconsistent in the following section where the temple blocks come in. There's a missed polyrhythm around 435 combo. In the section starting at 510 the melody should be jumps to be consistent with the earlier parts, and it's not. Around 650 there is a missed rhythm in the drums. The minijacks to the vocals are inconsistent in the ending section. Overall just a shitty file. Not impressed. I'll play the others later.

If anyone says the D5 song is not an FMO, you suck.

My reaction to Halcyon:
wow really fun file Bmah we need to teach you how to make good transitions. Leading out of some of those rolls and then especially those two minijack jump transitions at the end are just completely awful, totally ruin what's otherwise an amazing file for me.

The minijack patterns are just so uncalled for compared to the rest of the file. Really bothers me. Also, as for SAMBISTA, just because the omissions were purposeful doesn't mean they aren't jarring and make the file un-fun to play lol Played the D6 file. A little fast for me in the alternating jumpstream parts but overall really fun. I'm a fan of the (23) 3 (23) 3 (23) 8th jack parts, seemed to fit really well. Could use a color fix (the purple/pink arrows are weird) and it's a shame the framers wound up so odd. I actually laughed when I saw an 8th jack with a shorter frame gap than a 16th jack, GG FFR Also huge respect to Dossar for syncing it, sounds real drifty in parts.

jesus hi19, subjectivemanias much
I happen to really like SAMBISTA as a file. There's some pretty nice flow to it, although those 48th bursts are pretty mean (that's sugarcoat for "bmah, you're a dick!"). Mourning the Lost is REALLY fun, holy shit. Most fun I've had on a FGO in quite some time. Props, Dossar. Halcyon is nice, but very spiky in difficulty. I have a feeling there will be quite a bit of hate associated with it. |

It doesn't flow well at all for me, in part because the expectations built up in one section of the file completely don't carry over to the next part. Jumps to melody, okay. Oh wait jk not anymore... Oh then just once I pull a jump to the melody again, psyche back to singles on the melody again No flow at all like that >_< Also the more I play it the more I'm convinced Halcyon could have been the best file in FFR hands down if it wasn't for some really dumb choices in the end. Climax theory should never take precedence over avoiding-gay-patterns theory.

Same boat as hi19, not too crazy for D4 but legit reviews will be posted tomorrow.

Re: FFR 6th Official Tourney Songs Discussion: Round 4
@steppers: Please keep in mind that some people are pressured to play the songs for the tournament. I honestly think it's logical that some might be frustrated with having to play songs for a better score. I play casually myself, so putting my free time into a song I don't like to play is understandable.
@players: Keep up with the feedback, and please keep an open mind. Thanks! |

Re: FFR 6th Official Tourney Songs Discussion: Round 4
D6 chart: I like how you put the mirrored version of the first half on the second half so that it feels gay on both hands (i.e. mirror doesn't work) The chart fits the song well enough, but I didn't like the song at all

Re: FFR 6th Official Tourney Songs Discussion: Round 4
I do that kind of scrutinizing as a judge. Not as a player. I think that it's good to be able to discern a technically correct file, and a nicely flowing/fun file. SAMBISTA doesn't have that many errors because a lot of those things are intentional omissions anyway.
And there's nothing wrong with climax theory - if it boosts in difficulty appropriately with the song and it's memorable, nothing else matters. The harder it is, the more replayable it is. |
