Bravely Default
http://bravelydefault.nintendo.com/ Who got this game? What do you guys think so far? If anyone is playing it please add my friend code from the sticky thread. At the moment I'm somewhere in the middle of chapter 1 at level 16. I am shocked at how many different jobs there are. Also one of my favorite features is that you can change your party order to anything and the first person in the list is the model you use to run around in the world. Re: Bravely Default
I'm in a tough situation. I don't normally play turn based strategies like this, but this one looks very appealing to me. I played the demo and loved it then got trashed by the first boss in it. I want to buy it, but I don't want to be quitting it because I'm not good enough at balancing the jobs and their skills.

Re: Bravely Default
If you aren't interested in it being overly challenging just to have fun with the story and characters then try not putting it on hard mode. Or to breeze through it put it on easy.

Re: Bravely Default
The demo is honestly a side-chapter that takes place in a part of the map. Nothing in there is relevant to the actual game at all. The main reason for the demo is to show off the mechanics, some of the jobs, and provide those 7 booster packs (or whatever they're actually called).
I've found the actual game to be slightly easier than the demo (I died 3-4 times there, and only once in the actual game and that's because I was exploring the world map after getting the airship and got into a battle somewhere I shouldn't have been) and you shouldn't base your whole opinion off of that. Plus, as Izzy said, get it for the story, art, and music and play it on easy. That also said, HOLY CATS THAT SOUNDTRACK IS GODLY! That asterisk boss theme, uuuuuuuuuuuugh so goooooooooooooood! |

I pre ordered it and haven't put it down since picking it up. The story line is pretty good, it's definitely a challenging game (at least for me idk i'm kind of a nood at jrpgs), all the jobs give you tons of side quests to do, ugughuhfughdfg the music is so good, the art is so good, this game is so goooooooooood.

Re: Bravely Default
My mom sent me money for Valentine's Day (aww) so I went out and bought it. Called 3 Gamestops, 2 Targets, 3 Walmarts, and 2 Best Buys in a 30 mile radius of me. Only one of the Best Buys even had a copy and they only had 2. I didn't realize finding this game was going to be near impossible.

Re: Bravely Default
Damn some of these bosses on hard mode are kind of hard. Notably the water crystal boss thing in chapter 2.

Omega says that the more you play the demo the more you get in the game, so I'm gonna get the demo asap.

Re: Bravely Default
I'm torn apart. I played the demo and it simply did not stick with me. I'm usually quite happy with RPGs, so I don't know why it didn't stick. I might skip this one for now; not necessarily a bad thing, considering I have a ton of exams coming, and, more importantly, huge wii u games on the way.
I'll watch some videos of the game, though, just in case I find out I'm horribly wrong about this. |

Re: Bravely Default
Maybe I should stop playing on hard, this is just making things take a long time. I'm level 40 at the beginning of chapter 3 because everything would 1-2 shot me otherwise. Then again it is probably better for it to last longer.
edit: this boss is hitting me for 2900 when i have 1700 hp and aoeing for 1300 on the whole party. edit2: put it on normal and now the game is a joke. The same boss hits my people for 300-400 and aoeing for 100. Why is there such a massive difference? Last edited by Izzy; 02-16-2014 at 11:25 AM.. |

Re: Bravely Default
normal is how the game was intended to be played, hard is /actually/ hard
how many times do you get a game where you play on normal, and it's too easy, so you have to go to hard for even a semblance of challenge? It's nice that hard is legitimately hard, giving the people who do those lvl 1 jrpg challenges an actual challenge edit: so there's a crapton of people who have been beating the game with having random encounters turned completely off

Re: Bravely Default
I'll stick to hard, but sometimes the only way to get past anything is to overlevel the area by 10 levels so you don't get 1 shot.

Grinding to level 50 to even stand a chance against the salve maker guy in chapter 3. Taking hours...

Re: Bravely Default
Anyone know how to unlock Ninja? Everywhere online just says to go to mansion after rescuring egil, but I've done that 100 times and I've continued to go back there nonstop throughout chapter 3. Nothing ever happens.
