That sucked.
Last night I was at my friends house. It was 1 AM. We wanted steak-ums. We started making them and when they were done we put them on a plate. Then we realized there was no ketchup. We started to take a walk to Kwikfill/RedApple. About 2 minutes away from his house and the Kwikfill is in sight a cop stops beside us. He mumbles something into his radio and asked us what we were doing. We had been messing around running back and forth hitting each other on the way so we were naturally out of breath. Then he told us to put our hands on the hood of his car. First though to cross my mind, "Oh ****." Then he told us to empty our pockets and all three of us had firecrackers from when we were are the community park. Fail +1. Then we had to give him Name, Date of Birth, Address and Phone Number. Then we got into the deathly cold car with plastic seats and mellow music being played really loud. So he drove us home and we had to get his mom up. She didn't care. Neither did my parents. But we might get a ticket or not. Who knows. But. We didn't get the ketchup so we couldn't eat the steak-ums. We went to kwikfill this morning and bought it and ate them. Blah.

Re: That sucked.
Cops are, in general, worthless tightwad dickheads with far too much power.

Re: That sucked.
For next time: they don't have the legal right to check you unless they have -- beyond a reasonable doubt -- that you are carrying and illigal substances or doing something illigal.

Also, it should be noted that no one should have the amount of power that a cop has. "I AM THE LAW, CITIZEN, CLEARLY I AM HERE TO PROTECT YOU, HERE NOW LET ME FEEL YOU UP AND INVADE YOUR PRIVACY, LOOK THROUGH YOUR BELONGINGS, INVADE YOUR SPACE AND QUESTION YOU" |

Re: That sucked.
the name of the brand "sounds gay"
I mean seriously, what is with the "-Ums". I'm guessing it's a shortened version of "yums"

Re: That sucked.
The only cops I've ran into trouble with were actually pretty cool.
They'd be like "Ok, don't skate here; go over to Ferndale." So the next time we go skating, we'd go over to Ferndale to skate and the Ferndale police would come and say "don't skate here; go back to Hazel Park." So, naturally, we'd go to Hazel Park the next time we skate. However, the cops would eventually be called again, and they would come again. "I'm getting tired of coming out here. Just go to Ferndale." So we'd skate in Ferndale next time and the Ferndale police would come and say "Don't skate here. Why don't you go skate in Hazel Park?" Essentially, we kept going back and forth until eventually the cops just stopped getting called, I guess. EDIT: A question I forgot to put forward for FluorescentArmy: How old are you? It is likely that you deserved legal trouble, considering that I imagine you are underage and were therefore out after you are legally allowed to be.

Re: That sucked.
This totally reminded me of a time when a friend and I went back to our Jr. High to pick up my brother and talk with a teacher both of us hadn't seen in a while. She was really nice. Anyways, they day before, my friend bought me lunch and I had to pay him back, and I got out of the car and payed him when he walked up to my car. We shuffled around my car then went over to his car to check it out, when the SRO came out and told us that a "concerned parent" had seen us exchange money, and asked us to empty our pockets. Nothing bad, just my wallet, keys, and a butterscotch candy. (Wallet and Keys for my friend.) So, we said our goodbyes and went on our ways.

Re: That sucked.
Just so you know, guys, Aasum is right; cops can't force you to empty your pockets unless they have unquestionable reason to believe that you have something illegal.
You simply have to calmly insist "I don't consent to any searches." Regardless of whether or not you actually have anything illegal on you, it's good not to have to empty your pockets and have your space violated. |

Since you guys are talking about being arrested(not really) by the cops, here is a video that shows you how to use your amendments the right way and avoid getting arrested. It's a great video. |

Re: That sucked.
They may have had probable cause, RaiRai. The kids were running, and the cop asked "What are you doing?" FlourescentArmy never told us what they said, he just cut to the part about having to put his hands on the car. It's very likely they were breaking curfew, and they have the right to assume you were doing something wrong by breaking curfew, and that gives them probable cause to search them.
