![]() Who else is expressing overflowing floods of excitement about them?!
Especially with the new thunderbolt technology in them it's seriously just WTF of a laptop. Gonna get one of these once I can get a loan for it. Seriously WTF these laptops are insane, Apple deserves serious respect for building such an awesome piece of technology among their already huge roster of industry leading tech. I'm doubly excited about the new Mac OS X Lion coming soon. I might get the MacBook Pro once that OS is offered for the laptop. I'm just creaming myself right now over how awesome these laptops are. The power they output and vast resources at hand have me and a buddy of mine giddy all over. We plan to use these as workstations for networking and various Flash, Objective C coding, Java, and hacking projects we are working on right now. These will be our new method of utilizing data between us at light speeds and will allow us to better integrate our projects ![]()

![]() Only $4999.99! Am I right?
Also there isn't anything about the laptop or OS that better helps you work together on projects. It is all in the standardization of software and file types etc. There are equal solutions for that on mac, linux and windows. |

![]() People who buy apple computer products are generally uneducated about computers. I built a 48 core 32gb RAM server for less than the STARTING price of the 17 inch macbook.
I'm pretty sure you don't understand what the thunderbolt technology even is. Phynx, please don't buy this. |

I really want to hear about this. Could you make a thread detailing the build, or PM me it or something?
EDIT: I mean, I was under the impression that 12 cores/24 threads was the most possible at the moment (In the consumer market, with two CPU slot boards). I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to servers, so I'm probably missing something. Last edited by ninjaKIWI; 03-4-2011 at 07:03 PM.. |

![]() It's a server build. There is no reason to use those parts for a desktop PC. I can tell you its not a 48 core cpu though, it is multiple cpu's being used together.

So I did a tiny bit of googling and answered all of my own questions. I really have no idea about servers, I need to do a bit more research. |

Nothing.

![]() It's a quad socket server motherboard with a quad socket expansion board, running 8 1090T Phenom II x6's. Definitely not the sort of power any normal consumer would need.
However if you do any sort of rendering, or physics simulation, building one of these is probably right up your alley. |
