Pushing the envelope

a thought experiment where there's a desk and an envelope and you can only push it half way across the desk max, but on the edge of each side is a goal zone where if you get the envelope to pass through you get a point and start over. what is your strategy?

the core problem is that you can't move your hands past the midline. my solution has been to fold the envelope into a puck-like triangle and flick it

You take out a fat black marker and write "cheater" on the envelope and then push it past the goal zone.

eat the envelope and hope my arms are long enough to stretch across the table when i lay in the goal zone

have your friend sit on the other side of the desk get the envelope to his half of the desk then he'll pull it over the edge on his side and give you a point then you do the same for him and keep doing this until you both has as many points as you'd like everybody wins without breaking the rules

on the edge of each side... you didn't specify that there were two people playing.

just put it through your own side and keep doing it until you have as many points as you want.
