Song For The Nihonjins (7 or 8)
How this went un noticed. I have no idea.
This song's need to be bumped isn't a AAA based matter if you asked me. This chart needs to be bumped strictly due to the chart it's self. While this song's patterns realistically aren't that bad... The following factors make this chart harder than you think when approaching it. 1. It's off sync as all hell. 2. The beginning sounds you're hitting notes to are hardly able to be heard. 3. The random patterns form awkward sections that can wreck even the best player's AAA. 4. This needs to be said again: IT. IS. OFF. SYNC. 5. Length. The only thing this chart has to really counteract how it can become an 8 is: 1. Honestly, the patterns aren't super difficult. 2. The ending slides down to a difficulty 7 ish area. Or maybe borderline. I'm not sure which to be honest. |

How did this go unnoticed? Clearly an 8, this song is more painful than almost any other 7 in the game.

Re: Song For The Nihonjins (7 or 8)
1) It's honestly not that hard. Yeah, the song is kinda long, but it fits well with the other 7s.
2) The intro is just a single note repeated. Pretty much the most basic pattern you can possibly have. Even if you can't hear anything there, I don't think this is unreasonable for a 7 at all. 3) It's a constant BPM, so if it's offsync you can just use an offset. 4) Sections with awkward and wrong notes are common with all files, especially older ones, since it was common to use simple rhythms instead of precise syncing. I don't really think this song has anything out of the ordinary for the difficulty. ...5) The 1-13 difficulty system will be gone soon anyway, don't worry about it.

Re: Song For The Nihonjins (7 or 8)
Isn't Song For The Nihonjins the slow bpm song with that long 8th "jack" section? That part sucks for AAAing but other than that this file isn't very physically demanding.
If anything, the length, how boring it is, and overall the mental challenge of going through it is what makes it much more harder to score on than the steps actually are. Not to mention that 8th jack section again. I don't really see the need to bump this to an 8, but it certainly is incredibly boring and rageworthy at the 8th jacks if you're going for an AAA. |

Re: Song For The Nihonjins (7 or 8)
Dossar, I feel as if you completely ignored the fact it's off sync, which is the worst part about it. If it were on sync I'd agree almost. It's very similar to first try (in skill tokens) which is supposedly one of the harder songs in the game to get quickly despite it's simplicity.
Just because the current system is changing doesn't mean this isn't important to determine where this goes in the new system. |

Re: Song For The Nihonjins (7 or 8)
i recon it stays a 7.
just played it, and the only really awkward section was near the beginning with the worst possible jump-jack combinations: [34][24][34][24]... the jacks are long, but with your concentration on watching instead of listening, it isn't hard. i'm reminded of an 8: Hanabi. long, streamy, hard to do consistently. roughly same bpm. difference here, which drops it to a 7 is the shortness of the streams. 7-9 notes or so, a jump then start again. each pause between the next set of streams makes it easier to regain your bearings and continue to do well.

I say this should stay a 7. I agree with what other people (especially Dossar and qqwref) are saying about this.

Re: Song For The Nihonjins (7 or 8)
I saw this thread and immediatly started up my engine since I think I am quite the guy to test this out I gues ^.^
Reason being I FC'd like 2 or 3 8 songs with alot of luck/filewhoring and I'm FCing my lvl 7 songs. I say this song is a 7 since I FC'd this song on the first try I had. Didn't even experience that much of difficult and had a nice FC. Looking at this file AAA wise I wouldn't even break a too big of a sweat too since I had a 1319-106 Perfect Good Ratio wich is about 13-1 wich is kinda normal for me on 7 files since I mostly get 1 good in 10 perfects =p

Re: Song For The Nihonjins (7 or 8)
Not an 8.
Learn to use offset, problem solved.

Re: Song For The Nihonjins (7 or 8)
I think with offsync he might mean 1 note too early and annother note to late so I don't think offset will do the problem for him.
Ah well timing is all ^.^

Re: Song For The Nihonjins (7 or 8)
It's constant BPM, like qqwref said.
