so I know BMS of Fighters songs are OK permissions-wise but how about other BMS events

for instance, I was wondering if it would be OK to step something from this event:

Got blanket permission from DJ Satomi. Here's the e-mail (with my personal info removed):



His official Spotify can be found here and his official YouTube channel here. A couple examples of his older and more recognizable tracks would be Castle in the Sky and Waves. (Keep in mind that he did not create the Nightcore remixes that are popular.) He has been making new content so it's possible he could make something of that nature in the future.

His music is pretty iconic so I hope someone wants to step some of his work!

Currently, if you want music from other BMS-related venues, then you should provide proof that either the event host requires the submissions to be royalty free/CC permission'd/etc., or the venue host requires events to agree to something similar.

The FFR submission page for carnation says that the venue page said "期間内に二次配布を拒否する連絡が無かったため、二次配布は可とさせていただいております" meaning that secondary distribution is allowed, but I can't find it.

Essentially what jh05013 said. In the case of BMSofFighters, someone reached out to AOiRO_Manbow (hapinano) to ask and gave their blanket permission along with BMSofFighters. There is a contact link to the event organizers at https://bmsshuin.qstol.info/3rd/ if you want to reach out to them. It may also be that the work was reuploaded to another event (like BMSofFighters) where the song was picked up there instead. Not uncommon nowadays for BMS event-goers to upload their works to more than 1 BMS event, even though that goes against the spirit of BMS imo.

Limited permission from LuzeriA to use the songs in his SoundCloud account for non-commercial purpose which:
- do not contain "Remixed";
- are tagged with "#LuzeriA" or "#luzeria";
- are not crossfade samples;
- are not "full size" (if it's under 3 minutes then it should be fine).

Limited permission from the band Sufferer to step the following tracks from their self-titled album:

- Chapter II (Then)
- Chapter III (Sword)
- Chapter VIII (Pacifier)

They want to see how the content looks for some of these files before giving permission for the rest of the tracks on the album. They also requested to be informed when content goes in-game, so I will provide links to them if/when this happens.

Cross-posting this to v8 thread here because it got lost in v6 thread, and produced a semi-headache when a file from them actually came along in batch several years later:

The condition is any of his original compositions is fine. However, this excludes any collaboration made with other artists (unless you obtain their permission as well of course).

Details on permission here. He even makes a direct reference to Flash games/Stepmania-related uses. Also requests to link to his website, but this is a given on FFR.

[note: this musician is not the same as the void who's a member of IOSYS]

I get that 'several years' may render it a bit 'omitted & void' (all puns intended) but that's nothing new given the stance of some substantially older permissions that we still have today currently active in this thread.

Obtained Silentroom permission. Note that there are some songs that you cannot step from Silentroom because permissions have been transferred to other companies. The ones that you are not allowed to step are listed below.

Hooooo boy, here goes:

So uh, some of you know that ive been here for a long time, and at this point its half my life lol. Always loved this community. I can't chart to save my life, but I can write music kind of. I am giving all of the FFR community permissions to use my music for charts, whether it be FFR, Etterna, even Osu!Mania. I write heavy metal music, and I am trying to compile a list of music game covers I could remix into a metal song, so please, if you have any ideas at all, message me on my profile here or on my discord! So far, the only covers I have done so far is DJ Myosuke's Architecture, Eternal Drain, a Pokemon medley (Pokemanz) and that Harumachi Clover song from that one anime.... don't ask why I did it, its been done already..... is it gonna be the new Adventures of Lolo???????????? haha

The Japanese doujin artist "RANDO:" i.e. Floating Fragmentz (http://www.floatingfragmentz.org/) provides blanket permission as long as proper accreditation is used - this includes a link to the aforementioned website.
