Coming from osu!mania it's great to find another active 4K focused community. There are quite a lot of skilled 4K players in the osu community, most do not know about this game (kudos to Josemba for bringing me here). Looking at the osu!mania rankings, 400~500 should be the near maximum rank if you only ever play 4K songs. It's hard to tell whether players above rank 400 are decent at 4K because of the amount of pp 7K songs give.
Players coming from unexposed 4K communities also pop up in the multiplayer rooms in Osu. Ones I have met are exceptionally strong, possibly at least 20 D7 players from Korea, 5 from China and 1~2 more from Taiwan, and this just a tiny part of Asia. Their communities are though active but are non-existent to westerners. Even some of the skilled 4K players on osu prefer not to log into the client when they play.
Adapting to the layout of this game is the biggest issue imo for most people hopping over from other rhythm games. For me that is the case. From my experience I can safely say there are at least 100 D7 level players in the 4K rhythm gaming realm.

This is my struggle trying to go to osu! as well. I suppose this works both ways.
Sadly there's... little the engine offers over other VSRGs that would bring them over other than curiosity. And the community, I guess.
Ranking system thats not bad, check.
New official songs that get released and can be voted on by community, check
Tournaments with prizes that anyone can enter, check
Honestly theres so much good about this game computer to all other rhythm games but none of it is advertised.. This game is hard as hell to get into though, especially for someone whos never played VSRGs.
The one thing I noticed - I actually tried osu for the first time.. the game is just visually amazing, compared to this game.. the menu, all the graphics, it just feels so nice to go through.
Just my 2c.. is there a new users or new players guide to FFR/Stepmania? How to improve? There's no like, definitive source.. no media about it.. the best media we get is top scores, which I mean is nice.. theres no interesting stuff though, no memes, no content.. anyone ever see the FFR facebook page? Lot's of lost potential, unfortunately (shoutout to the people who maintain it though)!
I have big dreams for this game, I feel like it could get very popular, we can't be stuck in the past though.. I respect the view of preserving site history, but when you read responses like "Make sure you get synthlights permission before changing any tokens, he wants to keep the legacy tokens".. I mean fair enough, but it's just sort of odd.
