I'm not sure about the 6 button forward/back setup. I probably would have been more blown away if there was a 10 button forward/back setup, because it does require some skill to move the possible 4 finger setup up and down the board. There's none of that moving up and down the board skill anymore with that kind of setup.

Looks like absolute shit. They are trying to be innovative, which is something Activision isn't good at, and are ruining something that wasn't broken to begin with.
That plus it's too expensive if the price I saw was actually correct..I read it's gonna be $199 for game and controller and that's just insane.

Also them ditching graphics altogether is just so lol.

also backwards compatibility is cool but the first gh came out in 2005

If what red blaster said is true, 200 is a bit steep. Considering I have all the equipment necessary if they make it a 5 finger set up, I don't wanna have to throw more money at equipment that will take up even more space :/

Other than that I'm pretty hype, hopefully this guitar hero will have better lag configuration.

Any thoughs on the soundtrack yet ? I know it's a bit premeditated but it seems to me their target is even broader from the last GH installments : "Specific songs have not yet been confirmed, but the game's soundtrack is expected to include songs by The Black Keys, Blitz Kids, Ed Sheeran, Fall Out Boy, Gary Clark, Jr., Green Day, The Killers, The Lumineers, My Chemical Romance, Pierce the Veil, The Rolling Stones, Skrillex and The War on Drugs."

Apart from The Rolling Stones, The Black Keys and The War on Drugs (which have prominent guitarists), I'm really not excited at all about the soundtrack. Chart-wise, Skrillex might be interesting. Rest of the lineup are bands/musicians that mostly focus on the vocals. :/

According to Polygon's report about the upcoming game:

Guitar Hero Live doesn't have a firm release date, just this fall, but it does have a firm price: $99.99 with one guitar.

I'm curious about how the game will play out with the different setup; it is essentially an entirely different rhythm game compared to the previous Guitar Hero and I think there are some nice aspects to it.
And I wouldn't care too much about backwards compatibility considering the plastic guitars were never very durable in the first place.

@noname: I'm not thrilled by the announced artists as well and I'm not really expecting much more given their idea for the game.

Edit: I hope they don't end up with a lot of charts similar to Closer (gh3), it would get boring pretty fast.

well it makes sense, a lot of pop music or pop rock dont really have complex guitar work so shit like skrillex will be on the lower end of the difficulty spectrum

This is farther from the truth than I have ever heard.
Guitar Hero's guitars are extremely durable. I've had my guitar for 6 years now, and the only issue I've ever had with it was caused by me.

Mad Catz however can't make Guitars for Rock Band to save their life so those are pretty poo-poo.

@Deadlyx39:I had the official GH2 red sg and GH3 black les paul. Both started to give me random double strums and small circuitry failures (randomly not registering frets for a little while and dropping holds because of that) in around 3~4 years of somewhat regular use and no major mistreatment.

It's not terrible but I wouldn't call that very durable.
