There's also still the issue of all the FMO's and up being way too hard for most casual players to enjoy. I know back when I was first starting out I hated playing anything that was too far above my skill level because all I could do was mash. I doubt I'm the only player that's ever felt that way at some point. Obviously it's fine to add hard songs to the game, just as long as you can balance it out with easy songs to appeal to newer/less skilled players.
Raw scoring would be great for showing true skill on the scoreboards but that only solves half of the "too many hard songs" problem.
When I was a D3-D4 nubcake long ago, I would always get home from school, get on FFR, and play the lower songs from dance 2. I went on and did that for half a year. Maybe even longer, considering the songs I have posted on my channel are mostly easy ones. My point being, I never even thought about going to the harder songs, or improving. I was a casual player who never joined tournaments and only played stuff I liked. I got by just fine with the few songs I played. I also played those few songs every day.
Edit: I don't see why the people who play casually don't just leave the hard songs alone and think of the easy songs as the only ones available.
