GUYS THIS IS JUST A RUMOUR SO DON'T FREAK OUT

But apparently season 2 is gonna start on September 17th. Also a plot synopsis for the first episode of the season has been posted AND confirmed by the show's animators. Also it is apparently a 2-parter just like the first 2 episodes of season 1.

Here's the plot summary:
"Discord escapes from his stone prison and Twilight and her friends act quickly to find the Elements of Harmony to stop him."

edit: oh, the air date is a rumor. well, not really, but air dates can easily change up to the last minute so it's not a certainty
