    Saggy T's

    So...

    Story:
Thought I'd give FL studio a try since I downloaded it a while ago and watched some tutorial videos on it but never actually tried to use the program.

    Results:
    http://soundcloud.com/john-collins-3/saggy-testicles

It's a work in progess... haha. I gave it a cool drum beat because... why not? There's a cool sound to give the "saggy testicles" feel to it, there's no bass because... I don't know how... and I threw in some randomly placed piano notes because they sound like shit and make me laugh when I hear them. So the point is, I had a lot of fun messing around with sounds in FL studio. I'd like to continue this and learn about the possibilities of electronic music production but I have 0 prior musical experience =\ but maybe with some criticism you guys can help me get better. I plan to work on an actual full song but I need to learn the ropes first. So cheers profile chat, for inspiring me to follow my dream that I never even knew was my dream.

nice piano (not really). Uhm yeah, this basically needs A LOT of work. Sounds exactly like someone's first experience in FL.
Keep making songs though, maybe you'll find a new hobby like I did 4 years ago.

I figured the piano would make it fun if someone stepped it since the beginning wouldn't hahah and this is not only my first time using FL but my first time trying anything musical. I have never tried to learn a musical instrument so I can't read music or anything.

Weak excuse, I'm in the same boat as you and so are many other artists of higher caliber than I could ever wish to be and they produce amazing works.

Just learn your scales and a bit of music theory, and all that jazz and you'll be good to go. It just sounds like random notes at the end. <_<

Edit: and the piano you used has an awful sound :<

Notice how I said "random piano notes." I literally just placed little green squares everywhere to make it sound cluttered haha and I wasn't really trying to make an excuse. I was more getting at the point that I never had the drive to learn musical theory and "all that jazz." I'm the first to admit that this is terrible but this is a starting point so I imagine I can only get better from here. Hopefully...

That's because it is stock fl keys. Did I mention I don't know what I'm doing. But anyway I made another one. I want to make a heavy bass drop right at the end of if it to start the song but I have no idea how. Does anyone know of any resources where I can learn this software?

Anyway here is my second attempt at using FL.

                      constructive criticism, right, okay.
quote is a bit out of context, but it still works:

Yea, don't do that. I mean seriously, you can't randomly slap a string of notes together by "placing little green squares everywhere" and expect to get legitimate constructive criticism since you're already showing signs of Idontgiveafuck Syndrome. You're basically dumping a can of paint on a canvas and asking us to turn it into a masterpiece.

                      Also,

Try not to create your music-based decisions with the mentality that it would be "fun to step." If your song is good enough, someone will step it (unless you're planning on doing it yourself, in which case: a. stepping your own music is lame, b. if your stepfiles are anything like your music production...).

                        Re: Saggy T's

...Why is this even a thread in Musician's Jungle Gym? lol

There are a lot of people that put a lot of time and effort into learning the trade and perfecting their sound and turning music production into more than just a hobby and having it go somewhere.

...But can you imagine a thread from every person that illegally downloads FL and decides to upload their first "track".

There's no constructive criticism to be able to be given. It's no different than me picking up a guitar for the first time, randomly strumming with no knowledge of what I'm doing, and then asking Steve Vai for constructive criticism to get better at playing guitar.

You're honestly wasting everyone's time here with this thread, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. If you honestly want to make good music, do the research, learn the ropes, and go from there. Then in 6 months time, come back with something finished that you're proud of, THEN and ONLY THEN, can constructive criticism really be given.

                          Also, this.

Well, this was how your song was hyped to me. I was told it was things like turrible and that if I ever wanted to hear again, don't listen. I disagree.

Honestly, I thought the intro in the first part was good, but then I couldn't really hear much else... So judging based on that, I'd say good job.
