    What is considered a "successful" tournament?

    Many of us avid gamers are into the competitive nature of FFR. And because the official tournament is starting soon, I think this is an interesting/ appropriate question to ask. Which tournaments on FFR do you consider "successful"? What makes these tournaments successful?

    I'll post my answer in a bit since I haven't put much thought into the question yet.

      motivation from friendly/rival competition, prizes (or goals), fun, no cheating and many participants for a broader field of competition -- There's no fun knowing who will win each spot at the beginning of the tourney.

      imo, The DF Welcome Back Tourney was a very well planned and fun tournament.
      However, Mr. Rubix's fscked up tourney of wtf was not.

          Good hosts (organized, know how to talk to people, if they are helpful), good division placements and decent prizes.

              All of my tourneys are successful

              On a serious note though really it's just good friendly competition and good hosts. Obviously nobody wants to wait super long for updates or new rounds starting late so on. I actually could care less bout the prize part of it.

                          If you have enough people submitting per round (AKA you don't have to pass non-submitters / eliminate non-submitters to the point that you have to change your elimination sequence), that would be a success in my eyes.

                              Quite honestly I think what makes the tournaments successful is decided by

                              a) How well the hosts keep things up to date and how prepared they are for rounds, placements, and questions.

                              b) How into the tournament the participants get, and whether or not there are a bunch of non-submissions from lack of interest, etc.

                              I really think that the first part of that is a HUGE influence on how successful the tournament is. I've started planning the next tournament I'm co-hosting, and it's not for like two or so months probably.
                              Yeah, get hyped it's gonna be great.

                                  My Omnipwn tournament was very successful and a lot of fun

                                  I think a good tournament has to be easy to participate in, creative enough to keep people involved, etc

                                      In my opinion, the most successful FFR tournaments are the custom ones - like DF and mine.

                                      Even though there've been a large lack of submissions for my tournament, the ones who are submitting are having a lot of fun with the ideas used in my tournament. Of course I receive the comments of "lol dumpy" but it goes away from the conventional AAA-type tournament

                                      As for tournaments in general, you need a good host with a good attitude. Most tournaments I've seen do a decent job at this - if the participants decide not to take 2 minutes to play a song and submit a score, it's honestly not your fault (ESPECIALLY if they didn't give you a warning beforehand about anything)

                                          Did people have a good time? This includes not only the people playing, but the hosts, the people who made files, the people who donated, etc.



                                          If the answer is predominantly "yes" your tournament was successful.
                                          Remember this is a game- we play it to have fun.
