    Beatboxing

So I was reading through this forum and then I had the idea of creating this thread for general beatbox discussion.

How many of you here beatbox or plan on learning or simply like beatboxing? Discuss etc.

Personally, I'm currently working on polishing my crab scratch beats and trying to figure out how to do a siren.

    Re: Beatboxing

I've been beatboxing for a few years now, and can mimic a deep house bass drum to hardstyle. and can do quite a lot of beats and progressing loops.

        Re: Beatboxing

I beatbox for my a Capella group

I have a good variety of kicks, snares, hihats, and crashes I can use. I'm working on building up other stuff that I can use in fillers.

Probably my favorite one to use is a kick roll that I can do

How fast of a kick roll can you do? and do you use your mouth or throat to do it?

              Re: Beatboxing

I hope this thread isn't limited to only stereotypical beatboxing (hip hop underground music). I wanted to point this group out, they were at my college about a month ago as some free college event for students interested. I heard about them a year before though. Some of them are quite good at what they do. But if anyone can mimic noises well it's Michael Winslow. He's a horrible comedian though, so it's like eh, still wanna hear him play tennis. I guess I'll put a video of Naturally Seven, Michael Winslow and one of my favorite beatboxing battles.

Check out this one too if you want to see some different effects he does, like the rave party.

This next one is hilarious. The battle is just like slaughter. I would walk away and never come back after that haha.

Ok, I'm already the video postwhore in this thread, let me just post two more.

(you gotta admit beat it was pretty impressive haha, but that electric guitar was epic)

But yea, I've always had a huge interest in beatboxing and manipulating sounds through voice (I like ventriloquists too, see Jeff Dunham) though it's never been something I'm actually good at.

                Oh.

                My.

                God.

                Vocal electric guitar.

                What.

P.S. Thanks for introducing me to this, Wall of Sound is probably my new favorite song.

it's slightly hard to explain. It starts as a normal house bass kick, then extends into the roll by rolling my tongue.

I love beatboxing but I probably don't do most of the stuff right. I always made noises with my mouth as a child and I get it from my dad. I saw you beatbox on Facebook Stargroup and you're pretty good, lol.

Yea no problem. I was kind of pissed when I heard they visited my college a week before, it wasn't promoted enough. They're on tour and going big (somewhat) due to that debut. Support them by buying their albums, they're really good at what they do. Glad you like it.

Hehe thanks. Yeah that's kind of how I started out too, except for the "getting it from dad" part. I eventually saw some stuff on YouTube, so I started learning "formally".

If you guys want advice or tricks, I'll contribute if I can.

And yeah, I'm definitely gonna try to buy some albums from Naturally 7 if I ever get a chance. On top of outputting some amazing sounds, what I love about them is that the composition of the song is also professional and sophisticated, unlike most pop music.

                          Re: Beatboxing

I actually suggest you rename this thread to Beatboxing & A Capella. Anything music related that use vocals to make sounds. It's fairly obvious what would fit this thread. But A Capella would be nice. You get a lot more variety in this thread when you include that. For things like Michael Winslow and Jeff Dunham, I wouldn't include them. They have their own place in this forum.

I know there was one other group or beatboxer I liked, I'll try to find them.

                            Re: Beatboxing

Unfortunately I don't have the power to change the thread title, but I don't think it matters much.

But since this is on the topic of beatboxing, I think people who create sounds such as Michael Winslow are fitting, but ventriloquists like Jeff Dunham are in a different category.

                            Less semantics, more material. Go.
