    Drag Me to Hell

    Has anyone seen this yet?

At first when I saw it was made by Ghost House, I groaned, because I thought of The Messengers. Then it said "Directed by Sam Raimi" and I decided to stay.

And thank god, it was the closest to Evil Dead that we've had in years, which was right up my alley.

    Go see this, kay?

I'm sure some of you will hate it, but then some people hated [REC] and loved Quarantine. There's no accounting for bad taste.

You shouldn't talk down to people you don't know anything about, acting like you know more and then try to show them up in the forum. That's how you get absolutely no where.

There are very few movies that come around, that I can say the person who didn't like it, didn't like it because they didn't get it.

This is one of those movies.

It was supposed to be thin on plot, high on scares, high on humor, high on gross out stuff, high on style. And it was all of those things. It plays out like a very, very good B-movie.

I saw it, and I was totally expected a sneeze at this part.

If you're looking to see a scary, horror movie; do not see this. Above all, it had to be one of the funniest movies I've seen because I was with 2 others and we cracked jokes at anything that happened.

If you DO see it; remember this line: "Did I get any in my mouth? Did I get any in my mouth?"

My buddy works at the drive-in by my house, so we went in for free a couple nights ago to check what was playing...saw about ten minutes of the middle of the movie

We laughed pretty hard and then decided to hang out in the snack bar instead of continuing to watch it

I must admit, I also fell into the "Good lord this looks like a pile of shi...oh wait, Sam Raimi? Really?" trap.

I'll see it at some point.

I mean, everyone laughing at it, and thinking they're clever for laughing at it are missing the point that it is a comedy horror.

                        This.

And you have to remember...for all that Evil Dead was a comedy horror, it was still innovative and the graphic content was all real. Other than the goofy devil shadow stuff and the fly, most of this is actual special fx, not crap where its all CG and people leave it at that. Much rather see another evil dead movie than have to sit through a "serious" movie.

The only preview I've seen for it was completely straight-faced "This is a horror movie, it will scare you" with nary an ironic connotation to be found. Mind you, the idea that the publicists and marketeers could miss Raimi's point is far more likely than one would hope, but it certainly hasn't been pushed as a comedy at all that I've seen.
