Tekken 6 vs. Soul Calibur IV

As we speak, Namco Bandai is putting the finishing touches on Soul Calibur IV and Tekken 6, long-awaited entries in two of the most celebrated fighting series in history. Soul Calibur IV will land on the the XBOX 360 and PlayStation 3, while Tekken 6 is expected to be PS3-only.
The categories are as followed: 1) Graphics; 2) Fighting Roster; 3) Online Play; 4) Customization; and 5) Release Date.
    Graphics:
As beautiful as Tekken 6 looks, there's just no arguing with Soul Calibur IV's stunning HDR lightning and intricately detailed characters.
    EDGE: Soul Calibur IV

    Fighting Roster:
Tekken 6's huge roster isn't just for show: the characters all play with unique styles and strategies. The four newcomers are also hugely diverse and, in the case of Bob, rather amusing.
    EDGE: Tekken 6

    Online Play:
We're going to with experience on this one: the lessons learned by Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online will greatly benefit Tekken 6...at least we hope it will
    EDGE: Tekken 6

    Customization:
Both games will allow players to make many interesting variations of their favorite characters...but Tekken 6's weapons sound a little goofy and out of place.
    EDGE: Soul Calibur IV

    Release Date:
In a paradoxical twist, Tekken 6 is further along than SCIV, but will likely hit consoles much later. Of course, this will give Team Tekken more time to add extra polish.
    EDGE: Soul Calibur IV
    And most importantly...the Final Decision.
We give the nod to Soul Calibur IV primarily because we know it's actually coming out this year. Tekken 6 may be further along, but we're guessing that the PS3 version may not hit until late 2008 or even - gulp - 2009. What's the sense of getting worked into a lather over Tekken 6 when it may be years off? Our advice to Tekken fans: focus on Soul Calibur IV for now.
    EDGE: Soul Calibur IV
Any of y'all looking forward to Soul Calibur IV coming out this year?

The one reason I'm contemplating getting a PS3.
I've played Tekken 5, and I own Soul Calibur II (gonna get SC III someday...). Can't wait to see the next one.
Namco, please make a PS2 version for those of us in poverty!!

Well... I like SC but cant get it because I am a Nintendo Fan and I will NOT pay for any other console but Nintendo... even though I like them, a fan stays a fan (I have been playing Nintendo since I was 2 years old )

Anyday you decide to leave the forums is ok by us.

Anyway, as a huge Namco fanboy Im kinda dreading Tekken 6. The new characters since DR were dumb and out of place and Namco hasnt really added much into it since TAG that was worthwhile. also I'll never get a PS3. Ever. SC4 looks sweet so far but Im really heavly agaisnt sex in games, and it seems they have sex-up'd every female in it. yeah as an 19 year old I dont crae but the players I play with are much younger most of the time so that wont really work out (we do have some standerds, not that anyone here cares)

Also, I hate SC3. I damn right hate SC3. They messed up every single Soul Calibur Fighter to the point that after playing SC2 for so long I have no idea what Im doing. Talim now cant attack worth a crap and Xianghua went from parring to attacking out right. The only fighters that stayed mostly the same were the old Soul Edge fighters but even Lizidman was pretty messed up. I hope they either keep the same moves as 3 so I'll at least have a idea of what to do, OR just go bakc to SC2's movelist and add 3 to the Tekken4 list of blacksheep right along with Crisis Zone Arcade.

Pretty much, Namco has been slacking off lately IMO. The last great Fighter they had was SC2, being backed up by TekkenTAG and the best namco fighter ever, Soul Calibur One (so smooth and balanced)

This isn't CT. A slight mistake isn't going to cause a riot.

Putting some light into Tekken 6, here's the trailer: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZKPl_Oc0yIo

I'm already loving just the moves in that 3-minute trailer, let alone what all's in the full game.

              EDIT: Whoa, double ninja'd.

You know a fun Talim combo in SC2? B B K> K K K. If you can land the first kick, you can juggle the opponent right out of the ring, but you can only get in a maximum two or three extra hits before he goes out of range. I can't say whether or not it's truly effective, since I've never played anyone particularly good, but it's still fun to do.

As for Tekken 6 vs SCIV, I'm looking more towards SC. Tekken just hasn't ever really struck a chord with me...I never felt comfortable playing it. Oddly though, SC feels great to me.

The best setup in 2 has to be A-forward-sidestep-catchgrab. Pisses everyone off.

I've never really cared for Tekken honestly, not any game in the series...it's always been a little boring to me. SC on the other hand, has always been a bit more fun to me. Just because it kinda feels like it's a little more high-paced than Tekken. But SC3 wasn't the funnest thing in the world...I still own anyone with Taki as I did in SC2, but still just not as fun...

As for Tekken 6 v SCIV, I'm looking forward mroe to SCIV.

My main dude in SC-II is Mitsurugi. Not sure why.

Re: Tekken 6 vs. Soul Calibur IV

The one thing I hate about SC over thw setup Tekken has is that when you've played alot, you can Parry everything and it turns into parry-parry-parry-parry-parry-parry-parry-stab. It wasnt a problem when I played Soul Edge and I dont remember it being a problem in SC1, but starting at 2 it got fairly boring to me. Playing one player makes it worse.

My main SC1 fighters are Kilik, Xianghua, Hyung, Maxi, and Sophita.
My main people in SC1 are Kilik, Xianghua, Maxi, Cassandra and Talim. In the home version I love Seong Mina, Assassin (Hyung ftw baby) and Heihachi.
My main SC3 fighters are Kilik, Saingeif (sp), Ocadan, Setsuka, Xiangua, and Sophita. Also play as created fighters who fight like Tira, Kilik, and Hyung.
