I bought a PS2 just for Tales of the Abyss. The fact that Katamari and Disgaea were on the console was an afterthought.
To be fair, I said you should always pay more for the "games worth buying a console for" than you did the console. I paid $35 for my PS2 and $37 for Abyss. So hah.
The reason people think this game will be a 360 / PS3 release is twofold.
1) Namco/Bandai already announced a Tales for PSP, DS, Wii, and PS2. Now, to be fair, the PSP and PS2 games are remakes, so it's still possible this is a PS2 game.
2) The trailer is in 720p. If it's truly in-game footage, it's possible that it's an HD game. Wii only goes up to 480p.
I don't know how Namco typically handles ports, but I do not think they release multiplatform games often. Tales of Symphonia was only released on the PS2 in Japan because the Gamecube sales were horrid there (though they were pretty solid in America). Tales of the Abyss was probably only released on PS2 because of the attach rate that they saw with Symphonia.Comment

Well, I'd much rather it be translated in English, even if it's poorly, than not at all. I really can't enjoy a game when I don't understand what's going on. I've tried it before with Chrono Trigger and it didn't really work out.
