    All These New Song Releases Are Getting Annoying

    I dunno if I'm the only one who thinks this, but I'm just getting irritated by all of these new songs that are being released in clumps. While some of the elite players probably enjoy it I kinda dislike it because I like to focus on developing my skills on certain songs, but then all these new songs are released that I wanna try out and it just sorta screws me up.

      i was going to make a thread like this but for differnt reasons.

      i was more irritated with the types of song coming in the future.
      songs have been getting progressivly more mainstream (which can be good), but have also been drifting away from FFR's unique style into whatever kids feel like stepping.

      pretty soon we will be AAAing nickleback singles or generic acoustic songs that nobody would dream of playing on ITG, DDR, or dancing to in general. It's not fun.

      I'm not saying we should only have dance music, rock music, or even hip-hop (which we dreadfully need more of). I'm saying FFR should remain fun.

                  That's not what i meant. I'm fine with the new songs, almost all of them are great. I'm talking about future releases of already boring songs with maybe 367 notes strung out over 4 minutes.

                  That's not even fun for beginners!
                  I don't know, just let me remind you that this is a pointless rant and some WILL dissagree. Maybe i just imgine FFR as being more fast-paced.

                  edit: Just don't play them? Sure, but some people like to play every song for average rank/AAA/FC count. I'm not really one of them, but hey.

                          yeah, some of those are ok, but a couple of the new ones are exactly what i was talking about, being boring and all.

                              I basically stay out of Rock due to the mainstream music in there. Sure there's some redeemable stuff in there, but I just don't feel like looking for it. And I do agree that we need more Hip-Hop songs.

                                  Oh god finally I can rant about this without having to be the guy that made the thread.

                                  These songs are not in any way unique from other levels. I feel like I have been playing the same 80 levels for 300 levels now. Honestly, more levels is good guys, but only if they have some unique value to them. I'm at the point where my motto is, for any given difficulty: "Sightread one, sightread 'em all." As good as I am at this game, it shouldn't be that way. Either find an innovative way to step, or just stop releasing levels, seriously. Quality is better than quantity.

                                  And I've stayed away from them for a while now, but my average is suffering, and I pride myself in my average. So "just don't play them" only hurts me. I am a good player, a really good player, but because I don't want to play "hit this stream of 16th notes for 200 notes" for the 100th time, I look far worse than I am. Fail.

                                          can't please everyone. people complain there aren't more songs... people complain there are too many songs... people want mainstream music... people don't want mainstream music.

                                          no matter what is done, some group of people will complain. you guys just feel gratified that you're the ones that are upset, while the other 99% are content or happy.

                                                  truth indeed.

                                                  the only solution i can think of would be stepfile artists being more creative instead of pumping out 9000000 songs per week. It would make the judges lives alot easier, reduce the repetitive/boring stepfiles, spread song release out, and still keep most users happy.

                                                  The problem is that since the stepfile artists ARE the community, judges would have to be even more strict. That might reduce the number of artists willing to put in the time and the effort, which could lower the number of songs being stepped.
