I'm pretty fat (260 lbs.) and like most fat people weight loss plans have been pretty hard for me to stick to mainly because I'm lazy but also because I don't think I'm doing the right stuff. Does anyone have any good ideas or plans that worked for them? Thanks.

I sincerely feel like giving you a helpful post, but I have no honest idea how to seriously help you. -

Join a sport. Really. It keeps me in shape no matter what. Contact sports like football or rugby are exceptionally well at keeping you fit because it's lots of running, and hitting and tackling gets you exhausted. If you're too lazy to exercise though, then there's no miracle way that I know of to lose weightComment

play DDR and eat subway.
Lost over 50 pounds just playing for 4-5 hours a week.
Also don't expect results right away. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week, but don't quote me on that.Comment

eat, less exercise, more.Originally posted by talismaneat less exercise more.
In all honesty, I've never had a problem with being overweight, so I dont want to sound ignorant, but just eat less and move more. You dont need to go out of your way to "exercise." I think that's what gets people. Just try walking more. Example: park far away and walk. Maybe go out for a walk after dinner or something. Don't over do it. Just take it easy.
Also, try weight lifting. Weight lifting is a better way to burn fat for overweight people than aerobic exercise. You may not loose weight, since you will gain muscle weight, but you are getting rid of the bad fat.
And eat healthier. Try going veggie for a while or something. Just dont eat junk food.
Just think Moderation.Comment

You don't really need to eat less, just eat healthier. Basically, just cut calories anywhere you can. So drinking pop, don't do it. My roommate is really into bodybuilding, and I only see him drinking skim milk and water. They have like Crystal Light Packages that have Zero Calories or Sugars too, and they taste really good if milk/water get to boring. Seriously though, eating healthier is really a big key. ONLY eat when you're hungry. So if it's lunch time, and you're not hungry, then don't eat. Don't stuff yourself either, just eat slower, and you'll probably find that it takes a lot less to fill you up.
Along with that, definitely excercise. If you don't really want to lift, at least run. The best time to run is right when you get up in the morning, or after you've worked out. You start burning away fat instead of glycogen(sp) when you run during those times.
I don't know how serious you are, but if you want me to ask my roomy about it, send me a PM.
PS. Really try to stop eating fast food if you do indeed eat in now.Last edited by dunlop; 05-31-2006, 09:32 AM.The secret to your future lies hidden in your daily routine.

I know how you feel, needing to lose weight, I'm like 20-30ish pounds overweight, and I need to fix that, I've asked around.
Some definite answers I got were eat oatmeal for breakfast, because it has really complex carbs, that take a long time to break down.
Also, intensive excersize fpr like 40-60 minutes a day.
Also, you really need to stick to it, you can't just do it one week, and not the other, because that will lose all progress.
Also, it's not as quick as some people make it seem, it does take a while to lose weight.

Ignoring what everyone has said so far, I'll tell you how I lost the weight I did in recent years (not much, really, but it's easy, so you should be able to handle it).
Find something to take up most of your time. Only eat when you're hungry and even then do not eat until you're full. Just eat enough to not feel hungry anymore.
Much easier than exercising and stuff. I never exercised when I lost my weight. I just only ate when I was hungry and was doing something else all day that kept me from snacking.
I'm sure exercise on top of what I've suggested (perhaps as the thing which will keep your attention during the day and keep you from snacking) would help greatly, but I got results without it.
In fact, I wasn't even looking to lose weight. I simply just found something which could hold my interest the majority of the day, so I simply didn't eat like I used to.

I just want to say--
The weight part shouldn't be your goal. Being healthy should be your goal. They say causes of weight is 80% genetic and they say that there's really a negligible/nonexistant correlation between weight and health until you get to be really really heavy or really really skinny.
Basically, eat right and exercise, but if you're not losing any weight, don't give up because you still may be getting healthier.Originally posted by Henri PoincaréThe scientist does not study nature because it is useful to do so. This is what I've done all my life. Now I'm kinda tipping the other side of the scale.
