I have no idea whether this has been asked yet....but I figured I would ask it. I love directors...and I am interested in seeing who is everyone's favorite.
Who is your favorite film director?

RE: Who is your favorite film director?
Well, I dont know if this really counts as "film director" (though he has made films, I havent seen them), but my favorite director is Anno Hideaki (director of Evangelion and His and Her Circumstances). -

Although I respect other people's opinions, I dislike him. I think he is just stupid for making Farenheit 9/11. It is the most idiotic movie ever!Originally posted by vashthestampede0987Ill have to go with Micheal Moore.

As a purveyor of fiction (his forté) he seems to do all right, but otherwise, yeah, he's a douchebag.Originally posted by XxBeethovenVirusxXAlthough I respect other people's opinions, I dislike him. I don't really care about directors all that much, but I think I have to agree with Jewpin on the Hideaki Anno bit.
Ayane, I have to let you borrow Brandon's Kare Kano sometime.

Kevin Smith. Can words even describe the brilliance of his films? And, not only did he direct them all, he wrote them all as well (and, that really is more important).
Tarantino is also an excellent director.
There are few directors that I like every movie they've done, but these two have made ONLY high quality films (Jersey Girl not included).RIPComment

Actually, his style only really works good in Animation. I saw the Cutie Honey live action film he directed and the constant cuts to random objects and whatnot just doesnt fit...though Cutie Honey isnt exactly one of his better works. What I really want to see is Love and Pop, his first live action film.Originally posted by GuidoHunterI don't really care about directors all that much, but I think I have to agree with Jewpin on the Hideaki Anno bit.
I think Tarantino is a good director too, but his films are overrated (not that they arent good, I love his films).Comment

By so many, you mean 4? Cause, he's directed 4. If you count Kill Bill as 1.
Pulp Fiction
Reservor Dogs
Jackie Brown
Kill Bill
Those are all his. I do think he's been apart of the prodution of more movies, but those 4 are all his.RIPComment

HE is my favorite. By far....followed only by David Lynch and Stanley Kubrock....lately Scorcese has been pissing me off with pieces of crap like Gangs of New York and The Aviator. Otherwise I would say him as well.Originally posted by XxBeethovenVirusxXI think Quentin Tarantino is a good director too!Originally posted by TasselfootKevin Smith. I thought the directing in Gangs of New York was terrible...everything about it was just so cheesy..right down to the camera angles.Comment

I'm gonna have to go with Tim Burton on this one. Not because of the whole "goth" thing, but just in general. If you have the dvd for "The Nightmare Before Christmas" you probably have seen Tim's first claymation "Vincent" which although it was short, was remarkably well played out almost as well as the "Nightmare Before Christmas". Tim's imagination is like a wonderous blur to me. I dont know where he can come up with these many ideas.
p.s.
I thought "Big Fish" and "Edward Scissorhands" were great movies by him also.STRONGBAD:\"I got an e-mail in my pocket, and i think it\'s starting to melt\"
