David Lynch is amazing. Mulholland Dr is one of my favorite films. LOVE it. Lost Highway is pretty good as well.

Peter Jackson. Why? Because Lord of the Rings is kick-ass.

Well being a Film lackey, I'd have to say that I liked Pitof. He's only directed 2 movies, but the first was genius because it was in his home country. The second... was Catwoman. We just won't talk about that. But that aside, Pitof's genius comes from his Cinematography. If you have the chance (or can find it), watch Vidocq. Greatest cinematography EVER.

Then there's M. Night Shamalayan. He gets alot of guff because his movies are either Like-or-Hate. But he's the only director that has ever geniuinely startled me in a movie.

And Japanese Directors: We'll start with Beat Takeshi. He's actually a comic, but he directed Zatoichi, which I loved.

And of course nobody has EVER heard of this director, but he created one of the greatest Canadian films of all time: Ernie Barbarash. He was a co-producer in American Psycho, and Cube 2: Hypercube, but in his directorial debut he owned all with Cube Zero.

Norman McLaren gets mention too: He worked for the Canadian Film board but created some of the best shorts I've ever seen.

You want some great cinematography? Watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Fan-freakin-tastic. End of story. I am also convinced that someone followed me around for a while before that character was written. Kate Winslet's character= me. Right down to the ump-teen hair colors. (Guido can tell y'all about the hair.)

He's written the story for True Romance, I believe. Another excellent movie, I might add.

I've seen it, but the cinematography is nothing special. You're mistaking acting and costume design for cinematography. They are different things.

True Romance was his first script. And yes, it was a great movie. He also did the last segment in Four Rooms.
