    food for thought

Feel free to correct me if you think I am wrong here but you guys seem WAY tooo focused on the smallest possible demographic and because of that you are over complicating everything. You are taking the 80/20 business rule and have squeezed that into a 99/1 rule. 99% of your planning and effort appeals to 1% of the general visitors of the site. Continuing to obsess over song ratings, steps and selections has absolutely nothing to do with the health of the site. It's like being rich and thinking that if we only had more yacht races, more people would come to a polluted beach. In the process you are making a shitload of work for yourselves with a constantly diminishing return. Based upon what I am seeing, this is elitismand feels like a private club. Would you guys disagree? I don't mean to sound so harsh but what kind of effort has gone into making new visitors or players comfortable? Are there specific examples? If I come to this site new to the game, new to the community. Why would I stay? If everyone that volunteers spent their time welcoming new visitors or drawing them to the site, it would be way more beneficial than everything else going on. Everything else needs to be put on the backburner.

I have to agree with Synth. Not that it matters but this place has been about the 'core' members for a long time now. There is next to nothing done to draw in new people and zero promotion. Even things like events are all aimed at existing members.

The fact that the first response, jesting or not, decided to dismiss those valid points rather than discuss it says everything really. It was the same as when it was first said. Difference is Synth could have actually done something but instead chose to bugger off again, leaving the site to continue stagnating.

I think some promotion would be good but it would be hard to see any new players fitting in with the community very well.

but i mean if you define a healthy site as one with hundreds of thousands of registrations per day by 10 year old weaboos with a turnover rate of 2 weeks then by all means lets turn this place into osumania

OP is not wrong, but that ship sailed when synth turned down business deals etc. years ago

At least they recognize that fact.

When the game isn't fun for you anymore, take a break. It's not a job, nobody here is professional and getting paid to play and force themselves to constantly improve... it's a game.

the only way we could draw in new members is to expand the brand name
                      which costs money

idk why I was quoted in that post

also for anyone oblivious to the fact that this is a word-for-word synthlight copypasta I might as well let you know that now (if a seemingly serious Attractive post wasn't already ringing any alarms)

many users are already aware of what I believe the future of the site holds so I won't bother rehashing that here

                          this sounds like impending doom...
What is the best way to promote FFR anyways?!!
Apart from the twitter, which I dont know if its been updated or not daily, and the facebook page, which doesnt have a lot of action, how would we do this? Maybe when people go to conventions, not just Anime North, we can set up a booth or something to promote it. I know all this costs money, but maybe people would do it with their own money if they really care about FFR?
                          I know I would.

I just think most of the people in charge are more interested in yacht races than anything else. As a new user, I couldn't have cared less about the process involved in releasing new songs and assigning difficulties. I just wanted to play ffr with my friends. I think a lot of you "elite" players have lost touch with the biggest portion of the site's userbase

Yet I don't see you creating low-level stepfiles for newer users.

Hard shit is a product of the fact that anyone who gives a shit about creating content is at least D4 and they want to create stuff that is fun for them.
