Wasn't intending on making a thread about this, but I figure you guys wouldn't mind hearing and it's something that FFR as a whole doesn't need to really know about, lol.
Anywho, so a few months ago I went to the free clinic since we don't have insurance, and found out I had an ulcer from drinking too much. So I stopped drinking for a few weeks, calmed my system down, and went right back up as hard as I could. Long story short, it only was a matter of time until the issue resurfaced.
Well, after being violently ill and missing work over the last few weeks, I came to the conclusion that I need to quit drinking.
Both of my parents are addicts and alcoholics, and I grew up telling myself I would never be like that. Seems I fell a little shy of this goal, lol. So while I'm still young and alive, I have to take this into my own hands before someone else like the cops or the grim reaper takes it in theirs.
I did try to quit before, but in my head, it was more under the pretense that I had to because of my health and because my wife/family always rag on me for constantly having whiskey in my pocket flask. I think, and hope, that I can convince myself this is for me. After playing lTWG with you guys the other night, I had a lot of fun. But, I realized it's not just in the real world where I make a fool of myself for being drunk. I let these demons take hold of me, and haven't gone a day without being smashed in years.
So, my friends, wish me luck. My goal is to quit drinking, except on a Friday night and allow myself to drink a few nips or so, but only if I can make it that far. And not allow myself to drink on any other day except Friday night. If I can take control and do this then perhaps one day I can go back to drinking socially, or just on the weekends. And if I have a few nips Friday and can't escape that Saturday, then I know I have to completely eliminate it from my life. So again, wish me luck guys, hopefully my posting will reflect this too haha.
