    jTWG LXX: Flash Squadron - Game thread

    A long, long time ago...
    ... in a galaxy far, far away...

    The year is 7 ABY. Only 3 years since the Rebellion has finally overthrown the Galactic Empire and brought peace to the galaxy. However, in unknown vectors of space, different groups of Imperials still linger; waiting for their chance to strike and take back what was their's, and bring back the glory of the Imperial regime.
    These Imperial pockets have begun to band together and strike at New Republic cruisers, stopping the Republic from carrying their message of peace to outer-lying planets and causing the loss of more planets allied to the Republic cause. They grow ever more and more dedicated, creative, and confident with each passing strike...

    Lately, there has been word that a few upstart Imps have infiltrated the New Republic's fighter pilot corp in order to pass on information, and infiltrate the first - and last- line of defense for the Rebels.

    General Airen Cracken - commander of New Republic Intelligence, survivor and hero of the Battle of Endor - has decided that a new fighter squadron is to be formed. One that should strike fear into the hearts of the Imperials once, and for all.

    You, brave pilot, have received an open summon to join the ranks of: Flash Squadron
    Do you dare fight for the New Republic? Or sit back and watch as the Imperials destroy all that the Rebels have worked so hard to create?

    48 hour days / 24 hour nights - All phases end at 9 PM server time (7 PST, 10 EST).

          Many a voice was heard as pilots crowded against the bulletin board to see the latest HoloMessage from General Cracken. Is was rumoured that the General was forming a new squadron to combat the latest Imperial threat.

          Amidst the groans, and a couple cheers, iironiic managed to poke his way through to the front. With a look of disbelief, his eyes lit up as he read the list.

          Iironiic was jostled as a familiar hand grabbed and shook his shoulder.

          "I knew we'd make it! I just knew it!"
          The voice belonged to Jtehanonymous and iironiic could do no more than to do the same and grab his fellow comrade's shoulder as well.

          "Meeting in the General's office at 0930 hours."
          A stern voice silenced the crowd as Red Blaster spoke.

          "This is a big honour for all of us, and it wouldn't do for us to be late now, would it?"

          Jtehanonymous and iironiic quickly retracted their hands and began to walk. Joining them were a mixed array of humans and non-humans, but they would soon be forever known with the rest of their crew as...

                      also we should kill red blaster to advance the plot since he's the leader. that probably activates some story flag that lets us get the good ending.

                              "Welcome to Flash Squadron!"
                              A loud voice rang out as General Airen Cracken paced in front of the room.

                              "You've all had plenty of time to practice in the sims, but with the increasing Imperial threat, we've got no choice but to send you out there immediately."

                              The General pressed a button on his datapad, and immediately the room grew dark only to be lit up by a diagram of a planet and paragraphs of data beside the globe.

                              "This here is Thyferra. The known galaxy's largest producer of bacta. Our slicers have learned that the Imperials are planning on attacking Thyferra in order gain bacta for themselves, while simultaneously keeping the New Republic away from bacta."

                              A couple eyes shifted to cry4eternity. This was his home planet and his face looked grim.

                              "Worry not sir," cry said, "we'll prevent that from happening. Many lives are at risk, and I'd like to think we have a slight advantage."

                              A smirk appeared across his face as he finished speaking.

                              "Good. I hope you can use your knowledge to aid your fellow squadmates. I've transferred all the data to your datapads. You ship out at 1200 hours and I expect you to be back by 2100 hours on Dec. 29th.
                              Good flying, and may the Force be with you."
