I got bored and wanted to procrastinate work even further so I created a chart showing average difficulty of FFR songs by year. I used incredibly enhanced state-of-the-art graphics software to make this chart - the latest in expensive cutting-edge technology - to ensure the most optimal and excellent professional chart appearance. It's interesting to see how FFR difficulties have sky-rocketed over the years. Here it is:

Average difficulty of FFR songs by year (using sophisticated graphing software)

Theorem: If you have a large enough number of monkeys, and a large enough number of computer keyboards, one of them will sight-read AAA death piano on stealth. And the ffr community will forever worship it. Proof Example

You took an average of the released files in each year. A cumulative average taken at every new year would be more appropriate imo. Especially since pretty much only the hard songs batch accounts for 2014 right now...
You could use the averages you already have, attach a weight to them (# of songs) and do the cumulative average over time easily I guessComment

as you wish.
unfortunately the white stuff that i had to use in my earlier software was a bit costly, so to save money i had to use an effective substitute instead.
(higher resolution image in spoiler)

must be a glitch in the software. i'll look into itLast edited by Zapmeister; 01-27-2014, 03:59 PM.

What version of Sainsbury's Hot Pizza is that? Looks like it wouldn't be compatible with most other writing hardware peripherals these days. That pen you used must be ancient!Comment

Just by reading the thread title I had a feeling it was going to be either an mspaint graph or something similar to the first pic. The pizza box was a bonus though, I was not expecting that M Night Shyamalan twist good job the sixth sense

pen? what pen? this is state-of-the-art ultra-fine low-resistance lasers with electron beam focussing, the latest innovation in printing technology!
heh. who even uses graph paper nowadays? *shrug*

Re: Average difficulty of FFR songs by year (using sophisticated graphing software)
2002-2007 averages wouldn't be as low as they were if avmisses never existed, or conversely, if the avmiss glitch was never corrected. With the latter, files like Runny Morning would still be in high FGO territory and simple Cs like Force of Light and Abtrusity would probably be more difficult than some FMOs. As soon as the glitch was corrected, Tass immediately had a 'proper' hard song week (sometime in March 08 iirc) as all the boss songs in game at that time played much more artificially difficult than they should have been (and simfilers had been greatly restricted to choosing patterns that must work well with avmiss FFR).
Also 74.6 not high enough etc.

Yep. Vertex Beta and Strangeprogram are pretty tame charts today but they were riddled with artificial difficulty due to having less perfect frames making them high FGO's at the time. Pants was absolutely dumb to score on when it came out for this reason too and would've been like adding a 94-95 to the game.Comment
