    What to do in San Antonio?

    Hey guys! So I'm visiting San Antonio for about a week. I'm sitting in the LAX airport as I'm typing this :P So, I'm going to be there from the 2nd to the 7th in San Antonio, Texas for the SACNAS conference. A brief description:
    Interdisciplinary. Highly Interactive. Transformative. The SACNAS National Conference motivates, inspires and engages participants to achieve their highest goals in pursuing education and careers in STEM fields. Conference programming is specifically tailored to support undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and career professionals at each transition stage of their career as they move towards positions of science leadership.
    Anyways, it's not like this conference is going to be 24 hours a day every single day, so I'm possibly interested in doing other things as well so I was wondering if any of you on FFR live in or near the area and have a good idea of things I should do and places to visit. Or even better yet, if any of you are in the area, it would be a good opportunity to do a meetup or something

    In any circumstance, I'm kinda excited; it's always nice to be able to get off of this little rock in the middle of the pacific ocean from time to time xD

                          Ok, finally made it into my hotel I swear, every time I travel and see a billboard...they just look so out of place. Probably because they're illegal where I'm from...it's just not something I see everyday :P

                                              I'd recommend Pho Thien An which is a Vietnamese place behind North Star Mall if you happen to like that kind of food, easily some of the better stuff I've had there. Zushi Sushi is okay but it's kind of overpriced since they're also a bar, and Thai House looks mad sketchy (it's also probably inconvenient for you since it is immediately outside the Joint Base there, which is the only reason I was in the area) but it was actually unexpectedly tasty.

                                              The Riverwalk is kind of a waste of time, but I guess go ahead and do it to get the touristy crap out of the way. Don't bother with Dick's Last Resort unless you actually like 'Murican seafood. There is this pretty nerdy store in the Riverwalk Mall called 7th Dimension and there's a lot of figures people probably jizzed all over if that's your thing.

                                              Ehh, can't remember what else I did. Fiesta whatevers was alright, but I also unloaded for the speedpass so I got to ride EVERYTHING and TWICE IN A ROW.

                                              I met a friend from High School and we went to some hookah bar (I think Gypsy Cafe? Thousand Oaks sounds right) and it was fairly reasonable in price and they had alcohol too I suppose, but honestly, not my kind of thing. Never did find a good teahouse in the area.

                                              This is only stuff I know from last summer, so some of it might not even be there anymore!

                                              OH DUDE ALSO you should go watch movies at Alamo Steakhouse, it's a definite high tier movie experience (even if you don't eat the food) one of the locations there also has a pretty nice comic book store attached to it.

                                                          I made a fucking 100-restaurant long list of restaurants to visit in this city.

                                                          I wrote for a paper that covers restaurants here.

                                                          there is not as much to "do" here as there is in, say, Houston or Austin, but there's a lot.

                                                          the Alamo is the least interesting thing about this city.
