    Wide Awake (Sapphire Remix [WIP])

    Lately I've been working on a Katy Perry remix. Never even heard the original, so it's bound to be horrible. I'm just getting back into FL after having no computer to work on for a few weeks.

    I need critism. Compliments are nice, but most of all, I need to know what exactly I need to fix.

      vocals make such a huge difference when making music haha.


      the chorus at 0:54 doesn't go with her vocals enough. composition wise that is. it's a great idea but I don't think the minor chords mix in that well idk.

              I actually really like the instrumental, remove katy from this or force her to be in the proper minor key via vocal processing.

                  Don't listen to the original, not worth it.

                  I agree with CBR, I think I'd prefer to hear her vocals morphed to your progression instead of vise versa. Or just straight remove them lol.

                      I didn't even look at the key it was in, I just put stuff in before realizing the key. If I try to fix it, I feel like it's gonna just explode and sound horrible in the end. When this gets fully finished, hopefully it works out.

                      Either that or I'll just remove the vocals and be like "fuck you katy perry".
                      Definitely releasing an instrumental if I keep the vocals though.

                              If you don't fix it, it's not gonna work out. I've tried experimenting with major+minor at the same time and while I'm sure it's possible to have it work out, I sure as hell ain't skilled enough to do it.

                              If leaving it alone or removing the vocals are your only two options, the latter's your only real bet. I completely agree with Milla here though - use pitcher or melodyne or something like that and just change the vocal's note progression so it fits yours.

                                  imo the vocals acted as a good skeleton for this song. Without it I'm sure your song would've ended up as your other songs.
