I wonder if something could be done about TWWW's preview that's not working and possibly the file itself so it works on R^3 with or without background(?).
I have a handful of suggestions on how you can make R^3 even better with the next update.
-Change the color of averages to a light green, misses to yellow, and boos to orange.
-Make it so that negative scores get saved and take away points from your grand total.
-Remove the multiplayer editor.
-Set all of Synthlight's charted songs to mute themselves by default, that way the music won't throw off your "rhythm."
-Add a "No Fail" mode, that way you could FC tier 99 songs without having to worry about mashing too fast.
-Make any section that has no notes a "freestyle" section where you can do whatever you want to without penalty.
-Add a pause feature which will rewind the song slightly when you unpause to allow time to react to the next note.
I have a few things to point out about this.
1) There is already a new feature where you can customize your accuracy colours.
2) That would just annoy people.
3) The multiplayer editor is just as useful as the other two editors because it helps to give you a better look at what your multiplayer gameplay will look like.
4) There is already an option for ingame music. If you want to mute the songs change ingame music to 0.
5) This would make the game way too easy and there has to be some challenging aspect to the game.
6) This imo would just encourage more mashing.
7) This would kind of be cheating.
I hope some of these pointers were helpful for you.

i hope this was a joke (at least the first few here), i laughed at this
i wouldn't mind a no-fail mode if it didn't submit scores; people may just want to watch the arrows fly by, or there might be a difficulty spike which they can't pass in a chart they really enjoy

Do this yourself in the options.

No.

Why? You realise the editor is for editing, right? It's for moving everything around, and the MP screen is set up differently from SP so it needs to be accessible separately.

Better yet remove them.

and a pause feature for R3 replays!
Already exists but I guess no one's found it yet!

Fair suggestion, has been considered for a long time but was never a priority.

While I've thought about this, it's hard to decide exactly what part should be a freestyle section. How many seconds long must a gap be? How many seconds before/after the last/first note of a section should it start registering boos? How does the player see this intuitively and not accidentally hit a boo when they think there should be a freestyle?

Rock Band 3 style... I don't have a problem with this as I value user experience slightly over score integrity, but it does seem somewhat susceptible to abuse. Even if you rate limit it to only be usable every X seconds, it can still be used right before a particularly hard part. I would go for it though.
FMO AAAs (1): Within Life::FGO AAAs (1): Einstein-Rosen Bridge
also with respect to the 'freestyle' suggestion, the only way that could viably be implemented would be to remove boos altogether, which would just bring the game even closer to a flash stepmania clone
