If you are worried about people just going straight to the signup page and not seeing this thread you could always add a link to the thread on the sign up page and have a notification saying something like "Be sure to see this thread for rules/guidelines". A front page link to signups is always helpful for those who dont use the forums and by putting the link to the thread on the signup page you will prob have a better chance of directing them here over the link being in a couple bold words of a post. Just my thoughts.

They don't come to the thread. They go to signups without reading anything else if that's what's up there in big letters. Right now they're directed to the thread where they can find the link to signup and the front page post states they can find all the information here (including how to signup). It worked fine the last time I did it and frankly I'm not worried about it. Old officials required people to post in the tournament thread before the dash was available and there were 1000s of signups for that including non forumgoers.

I agree.

How definite are the prizes as of now? I don't think I'm the only one that would like to see the pot sweetened, especially in the way of tokens.

Well I mean, coming after Hallogen's tourny, I seriously put my all, got 4th and got something like 90k credits. Now im not saying do that much, but doing a bit more would be kinda cool...

As of right now these are the tokens we have to offer. FFR doesn't have subscriptions or t-shirts to give out anymore. I have had offers from users for prizes but I will not put them up unless they're in my possession because of past issues with prizes not being delivered to winners. If I were in a better situation financially right now I'd make up some shirts or something myself, but I'm just not in that type of position currently. Sorry guys.

Oh, I meant the token and credit distribution, e.g.:
7th official, D6 3rd place - 360000 credits, 5 event/support tokens
8th official, D6 3rd place - 150000 credits, 1 event/support token
7th official, D6 16th place - 60000 credits, 5 event/support tokens
8th official, D6 6th through 16th place - 0 credits, 0 support/event tokens
I would be surprised if the top 3 in D6 don't already have every support and event token. The prizes for the 7th official make more sense to me.

In reality it doesn't. If you look at the way most tournaments are held for things there aren't even divisions and the prizes generally don't extend far. Most of the time only top 3 will win anything. We actually allow more opportunity to win because we offer divisions. D6 is tough yeah, but if you want the prize then push for it. There have been plenty of people in the past that have come up and beaten people you wouldn't expect in tournaments. Frankly I think people need to stop with the I can't attitude and actually push. On another note, how exactly does extending the prizes downward help the top 3 in any way if they have the tokens as you're assuming? If anything the focus should be alternative prizes for the top 3, not extending prizes further down.

Edit: Also, it basically defeats the purpose of coming in first when people all the way down to 16th are receiving all tokens. I didn't even realize he did that in the last and he shouldn't have.

It's really better off anyway since none of the placements are final and could be changed. I'd rather not have people look at their division then end up switched and be upset or confused. It's just better if things can be more set in stone.

I signed up even though I don't think I've played this game seriously in like 4-5 years. Will be interesting I guess.

As the pool of contestants grows, the window of places to recieve a token shrinks, and the skill of the participants increases, the chance of a token to be awarded to someone that doesn't yet own it, even with a fair skill boost, draws nearer and nearer to an impossibility. The token distribution is appropriate for D1 or D2, but D6 takes most of these parameters to their extremes. There are two people that are capable of AAAing almost every song 90 and below. There are three more that are capable of low-SDGing every 90 and below. Given that there are so many competitors in D6 this time around, restricting tokens to the top 3 spots seems trivial. Furthermore, the credit prizes are expanded in the higher divisions, and I would have expected the same for the tokens.

I can see you've made up your mind about this, and I won't discuss it any further. Just wanted to put my thoughts out there.
