Re: Which one are you?
Lol. Weren't you the one who told me I was being pretentious about mentioning BoH in my last post? :P You're kinda right though. At first, I was listening to uncommon music because I felt isolated from the mass. Now it's really just a matter of appreciating the structures and estheticism of the sound.
I think Bull of Heaven is conceptually incredible, but that's it. I see them as artists of the sound. Their statistics and numbers always have amazed me, but in a musical perspective, it just seems very bland.
Also think it is illogical. Natural recordings reflect the origins of the sound and music. Many groups of people have been interested about making a parallel between the spectrum of sounds present in our environment and music. We've been conditioned to hearing our surroundings since forever, I don't think we could even say field recordings are "not a norm in society".Originally posted by SpennerAlso, why are field recordings in level infinity? Naturespace is fukken amazing.
The f*** people care anyway.
This is the last song from Songs about my Cats of Venetian Snares called Look. Exactly why I think VSnares and James should have been twins. Except Funk really isn't scared about releasing everything he produces. Hence why some of his things feel humoristic.Originally posted by Reincarnate****ing crazy shit, awesome the entire way through though just to see the shapes the spectrograph makes

Re: Which one are you?
So, I tried to answer this as accurately as possible. I only count ones on which I listen to on a DAILY basis (AKA listen to them frequently on my ipod or computer)
Level 1. Jazz (1 point)
Level 2. Metal, Dubstep (2 points)
Level 3. Extreme Metal, Folk (2 points)
Level 4. Industrial, IDM, Ambient (3 points)
Level 5. Noise, Experimental (2 points)
Level 6. Harsh Noise, Dark Ambient, Drone (3 points)
Level 7. Tibetan Throat Singing (I actually love this, lul) (1 point)
So based on this chart, I'd be a tie between 4 and 6. I personally see myself more in level 4...but a lot of genres are left out of this chart. XDOriginally posted by [TeRa]Ahhh, I'll buy it at a high price!Comment

Most of Bull of Heaven are indeed... empty and devoid of any life but there are some exceptions. (you can't make 400 albums without having 1-2 worth of interest)
143 has some pretty intense Noise/Stoner/Sludge passages. It's a pretty contrasting release and the variations of sounds are intricates.
123 is even better. The production takes a step for the better while some passages are probably the best I've ever heard from them. It's more progressive than their usual stuff and they were able to create a unique sound, between post-rock and drone.

Level 5, but now I find out about the level 8 stuff and they sound rather nice. Well I was never social to begin with anyways.Comment

Re: Which one are you?
Lot of interesting posts in this thread, loved them. Esp the quarter tone. The bull thing was kinda weird, seemed like some Guinness shenanigans.
welcome to level infinity+1
