Rap music is music. However, It's not in the traditional sense of how we understand music. The vocals are filled with slangs that gangs used since the 70s and a lot of the instrumentations are replaced with "Street Sounds" instead of traditional instruments. Music is defined as any combination of sounds that is pleasing to the ear, so while one person may find it as "noise" another person can find it pleasing to the ear and so call "vibe" with it as how I think the kids would say it these days.

I've been debating whether i should stick with SS to gain back the strength that i lost from the long break I took from lifting and just keep going till I stop progressing linearly, or if i should just start up on a PPL now, i really don't want to go T-Rex mode. p.s. lmao at this guy playing huniepop in the middle of the rec center.
PPL now.
If you're not a beginner then don't bother with SS.

there is no reason for the vast majority of healthy beginning/intermediate lifters to do Starting Strength or StrongLifts or any shit like this over PPL except the intellectual difficulty of following exercises off of a grocery list
For 99+% of the population, a 405 bench is pretty much the absolute maximum. The number of powerlifters I know that stayed natural and capped around 350 and started to fizzle out, reaching maximums of 360 or 370 before getting an injury is...staggeringly high. Pretty much all of them. The number of people that can push higher are almost non existant and they tend to be extremely tall/big bone structure and also very overweight.
Drugs can push you over 405 pretty quickly but even then more drug users start to fizzle out around 450...let alone natties.
...but that still puts me at ~405lb predicted drug-free bench, and ~1620lb predicted total, which I know isn't happening. lol. I'd be grateful to get to that point *with* drugs.
but if I ever bench 475lb, well, I guess this calculator was right in a good way.
"A key justification for excluding women from sporting competitions is their so-called weaker physiology.
...
The trope of biological determinism reifies dangerously defeatist attitudes among girls and women who are taught to believe they do not have the ability to compete alongside men because of their biology. And yet the truth is that the difference between men and women is culturally created.
Sporting competitions, which do not allow men and women to compete together, exaggerate and extend socially constructed gender distinctions. In this way, sporting competitions reinforce the perception that men have an inherently superior prowess to women. Men are considered to be faster, and stronger and to possess greater endurance. ..."
Where do they get these people. I'd think that was an onion article if there wasn't a url.
Real talk (although this isn't really for Arch):
gender distinctions, especially so in sports, are not 'socially constructed'. Men are superior physically in almost every conceivable way and having men compete against women in most sports that involve physical ability is objectively not fair. The difference is MUCH more significant between men and women than the difference between enhanced / doping men competing against natural men, and everyone pretty much agrees that that shouldn't be allowed.
I don't think the layperson and especially not this bumbling imbecile realize how weak women really are. Not as a jab, but biological reality. Women can't compete physically with men. A lot of people are actually really deluded in how strong they think top female athletes are. I mean I've seen people seriously say Ronda Rousey could beat someone like Mayweather in a fight lmao are. you. serious. She would be out like a light in 10 seconds.
And it's not because she's not a good fighter. It's because it's not a fair fight. I train a LOT of people with respect to lifting. A lot, and I've training a lot of women and have worked out with a lot of women over the years. I've directly followed the progress of 4 women I've personally trained for more than 2 years now so I know what typical female strength progression looks like. I've also training a lot of men.
Real talk: Women near their maximum potential (i.e. 80-90% of maximum after 3+ years of weight training) display strength equal to that of completely untrained males after only weeks if not days of training. When compared to men that are untrained but have sporting backgrounds, they're generally weaker, even near their absolute maximum. Even men with the worst genetics that have never played a sport in their life can surpass maximum female strength generally after less than 3 months of training.
80-90% female maximum @ 150 lbs for a woman (Normal height, jacked and lean), I would consider a 115x5-8 rep bench press EXCEPTIONAL, with a 140-150 lb 1 RM. This would take most women 2-4 years of training depending on genetics.
I would expect a 150 lb man to bench that much after a few training sessions even completely untrained and non athletic. Men can take longer to catch up on Deadlift and Squat because they're less to do with brute strength and have more motor recruitment and skill involved, but Men equally out ratio women on this lifts given slightly more time.
=/
That's just reality.
I love it when feminists push equality of outcome on women that aren't interested in competing against men in the first place. Women aren't nearly as competitive as men are and the male desire to be the champion and to dominate all else is so strong that women can't even compete against men in things that are non-physical. Take Chess for example (and I'll choose chess over the myriad of other male dominated non-physical events because chess for women has been heavily marketed and encouraged), women still can't compete, there have been like 2 GMs ever that could take games off of any of the top 200 men. Men outnumber women at the top more than 100 to 1, and there's nothing physical involved. It's almost entirely drive and motivation to win and compete.
