I really enjoyed this movie. When it was over I really wanted the story to continue.
Aside from that, Reach brings up some really good points. I don't think I would have thought of the situation like that, but it really brings it into a much clearer light.
Also, I read somewhere (wired.com, I believe) that the majority of the alien weapons were not exactly weapons. As Reach said these were the working class and as such they would more likely have tools for doing their jobs. Similar to how some of our tools can be perceived as weapons. This is not to say that there were not weapons, but I do believe that a large amount of the alien weapons were designed to be used as tools whose purpose was changed when their situation changed. If that makes any sense.
