Maybe it is about Z, but they decided to just use Dragonball. Same thing with Soul Calibur. They made that one word: Soulcalibur for no reason.

If the topic was about FFR you'd be correct, besides, I liked Dragonball back in the diaper days. I wouldn't be surprised if theres still people who get offended about it.

And the fact that the characters look like morphed out aliens that are displayed nothing close to actual the anime, on this new movie thats about to come out, it would only be natural that one would react negatively towards it. I mean come on, that's supposed to look like Aped out Goku?

It'd be funny if like Ang Lee was directing this, because it'd be even worse.

You're an idiot. Ang Lee is a capable director. You may think Hulk is garbage, but the visual style of it is unique regardless of the terrible plot or setup. And take a look at a few others of his films, such as Brokeback Mountain or Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

As someone who is fairly familiar with how the fan base for DB has evolved, and who has seen every picture from this movie so far... I am almost 100% certain that this movie will be an ENORMOUS flop. It will not appeal to the average moviegoer, and it will not please the hardcore fans. Couple this with the arguably "cheap" feel to it all, and you've got a surefire recipe for a bad movie.

I am looking forward to the cute asian actresses, however.

Your psuedo-moderation isn't necessary. Dev is 100% capable of determining when things get out of hand.

Well the problem is that this movie is being advertised as an adaptation of the DB series. That means there are going to be very modernized elements to everything, changes in characters, events, etc.

Hopefully it doesn't suck, but I'm fairly sure that it will. I can't see a movie like this working out... reminds me too much of Mortal Kombat and Mario Brothers in its approach. It'll still be interesting to watch, but only in the same way that... well, Mortal Kombat and Mario Brothers are interesting to watch :P

The AICN review (these guys tend to be very credible... at least, Harry Knolwes, Moriarty, and Massawyrm are, although in this article, a lot of people accuse the author of being a plant. I can't say for sure either way, but regardless, you can take it at face value here):
